Background Premenstrual disorders, including premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, are suggested to be correlated with suicidal behavior and accidents in cross-sectional and retrospective studies. However, prospective data are still lacking. Methods We performed a population-based cohort study including 1,472,379 Swedish women of reproductive age who were followed from 2001 to 2012. Within the cohort, we also performed a sibling analysis where we compared the rates of injury between full sisters. By linking to the Patient and the Prescribed Drug Registers, we identified 18,628 women with any clinical indications for premenstrual disorders in the cohort (population analysis) and 7674 women …

Objective: To document the prevalence of depression an examine the relationship between depression and selected pain-related variables associated with chronic back pain among elderly and nonelderly samples. Design: Survey with mailed questionnaire. Setting: Patients seeking treatment at a spine diagnostic and treatment center. Patients: Consecutive sample of elderly subjects (n = 69). Nonelderly subjects (n = 59) were randomly selected to achieve a sample size comparable to the elderly. Evaluation of depressed mood was determined by Beck Depression Inventory. Purpose: The purpose was to examine the maternal influences on the development of infant oral biofim and dominant bacterial strains of at risk populations. Methods: The study used a cross-sectional design to examine factors influencing biofilm colonization and the identification of bacterial strains transmitted from mother to child. Participants were enrolled in Children’s Health Involving Parents of Greater Richmond (CHIP). Plaque and saliva samples were collected from mothers and their children ages 6-36 months. The colonized oral bacteria strains of the mother infant dyads were then compared. Oral bacterial strain identification was completed using the HOMIM Forsythe microbe identification array. …
