The Horticultural Therapy (HT) profession has been formally organized in the United States since 1973. Despite the long history of horticulture being used as therapy, the profession of HT in the United States has not advanced as quickly as other allied healthcare professions. This study will review the current challenges and opportunities for HT and HT education in the United States.

The demand for highly qualified workers in health-related fields is growing. To help meet specific demands, DePaul's College of Science and Health is laying the groundwork for two new programs: occupational health (OT) and speech language pathology (SLP. The heads of these programs, Kate Barrett and Jayne Jaskolski, explain what professionals in their respective fields do and the range of opportunities that are available to individuals who want to make OT or SLP a career.

Purpose: Clinical placements associated with university degrees for the allied health professions aim to support the preparation of students for post graduate employment through the practical application of theoretical constructs. Purpose: Internationally, and in Australia, interprofessional education (IPE) is becoming typical in primary healthcare delivery and is core to delivering patient-centred care. It is essential that primary healthcare education develop interprofessional capacity in order to produce a skilled workforce. An IPE clinical placement for undergraduate health students was developed and piloted in primary healthcare settings. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the IPE clinical placement in a primary healthcare setting on students’ perceptions of interprofessional education.
