A Study Of Puccinia Graminis And Cronartium Ribicola, Duane W. Hughes
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this study (1) to review the literary history of rusts in the United States and in the Northwest in particular, ( 2) to learn where rusts generally are found geographically, (3) to gain further information regarding the etiology of wheat rust (Puccinia graminis tritici), of white pine blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) and to become enlightened on other rusts, (4) to learn ways of controlling the two rusts, black stem rust of wheat and white pine blister rust, and to gain an appreciation of the economic importance of rust prevention.
Anxiety And Fear In Personality Structure, Robert Robert Mickelson
Anxiety And Fear In Personality Structure, Robert Robert Mickelson
Graduate Student Research Papers
The problem to be studied is the effect of anxiety and fear on the personality. Concern with this problem stems from the fact that on many occasions anxiety and fear blocks a person's free approach to experience and often anxiety and fear prevent one from building sound interpersonal and intergroup relations.

The Linacre Quarterly
The purpose of this department in The Linacre Quarterly is to make available by titular listing such current articles as are thought to be of particular interest to the Catholic physician by virtue of their medical literature although, of necessity, this source is the most fruitful. When abstracts appear, they are intended to reflect the content of the original article. Parenthetical editorial comment may follow the abstract if considered desirable. Contributions from readers are invited.

Solpugida Of The Nevada Test Site, Martin Hammond Muma
Brigham Young University Science Bulletin, Biological Series
Study of nearly 1,000 specimens of solpugids collected in 1960, 1961, and 1962 from Mercury, Nevada, resulted in the identification and placement of 395 adults in 28 species. Eight new species are described and figured. Two new synonymies, resulting from proper association of males and females, are cited. Study of the seasonal distribution and relative abundance of the sexes of 12 common species has prompted general and specific deductions concerning the essentially unknown biology of North American solpugids. Systematic collection data furnished ecological information concerning the 12 common species.

Factors Affecting The Rest Of The Hospitalized Cardiac Patient, Julia M. Bensonhaver
Factors Affecting The Rest Of The Hospitalized Cardiac Patient, Julia M. Bensonhaver
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
A study was conducted to determine factors which can promote and prevent the rest of the hospitalized cardiac patient. Literature was reviewed in the areas of patients' opinions about their hospitalization and pertinent concepts in medical and nursing literature regarding cardiac rest. A study was not found which polled cardiac patient specifically regarding their ability to rest. Most authorities in this area strongly advocate rest for the cardiac patient, but there is disagreement of how and how long the patient should rest.
A questionnaire was sent to seventy cardiac patients who had been hospitalized in the nine months prior to …

A Study Of Verbal Output, Relating To Otsego Public School First Grade Students With Functional Articulatory Defects, John M. Bartholomy
A Study Of Verbal Output, Relating To Otsego Public School First Grade Students With Functional Articulatory Defects, John M. Bartholomy
Masters Theses
The Problem and Its Background
The Problem
The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the verbal output of first grade elementary school children is reduced when one of the participants in conversational communication has an articulation speech defect. A speech defect has long been thought to cause a reduction in the verbal output of the possessor of that speech defect. This present study seeks to determine whether or not an articulatory speech defect also reduces the verbal output of the normal speaking person with whom he is communicating.

The Adaptive Behavior Rating Sheet was administered to a sample of ninety patients who, at the time of administration, had been in the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center (PSH&TC) between one year six months and two years six months.
The raw scores were statistically reduced to comply with the five levels of adaptive behavior employed at …

Listening Lessons In Connected Speech For Puerto Rican College Students For The Purpose Of Improving Aural Comprehension In English, Margaret F. Tucker
Listening Lessons In Connected Speech For Puerto Rican College Students For The Purpose Of Improving Aural Comprehension In English, Margaret F. Tucker
Speech and Hearing Sciences ETDs
The University of Puerto Rico English staff members who are preparing teachers for the Island school system are concerned about the lack of effective training techniques which will develop the student's listening ability and thereby sharpen his comprehension of spoken English. Appropriate listening lessons to improve their understanding of connected speech are needed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the following hypothesis:
That additional materials for listening discrimination are needed for teaching English to Puerto Rican college students, and that paragraph listening lessons will provide varied auditory experience for sound discrimination training in learning English as a second …
