Throughout history, the evolution of crime has been responded to with an evolution in crime fighting tactics. One of these tactics was undercover operations, which were developed to combat specific varieties of crime beginning with white collar crimes and government corruption. Today, undercover operations are utilized in many other ways as well, ranging from drug stings to online operations targeting sex crimes. While these developments have greatly aided and advanced justice over the years, the time has come to begin addressing the negative effects of undercover operations on the individual officers. The Christian of today has the weighty task of discerning biblical truth in the midst of widely varying perspectives on every matter imaginable—especially in the healthcare setting. This essay aims to bring clarity to this mission by outlining the basic content of a biblical worldview, the defining characteristics of the nursing profession, and how the Christian with a biblical worldview approaches two specific areas of contention within the nursing profession.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) on children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study examined the question: “What is the role of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices in aiding individuals across the autism spectrum and what perspectives do parents of children across the autism spectrum have with regard to this technology?” This study involved interviewing a parent of an autistic child to glean her perspectives on AAC. The findings from this interview guided the meta-analysis research. Three main categories arose: benefits of AAC, disadvantages of AAC and parent …

MicroRNA (miRNA) is an epigenetic factor that plays an important role in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene and protein expression. Recent research has shown that in many types of cancer, differentially expressed levels of certain types of miRNA are significantly correlated with the transformation of and ongoing issues caused by cancer cells. Specifically, in Glioblastoma, one of the most lethal and aggressive human cancers, differential levels of miRNAs contribute to the cell’s lack of pro-apoptotic gene presence and its high resistance to current treatments. Strained Differentiation: Negotiating Grief With Maternal Foundations In Laird Hunt’S Neverhome, Heidie L. Raine

Channels: Where Disciplines Meet

The intertwinement of mother-daughter psyches throughout the early developmental process bonds maternal and filial parties up unto differentiation, at which point the child comes to understand her status as an individual and her mother’s status as a separate entity. However, when trauma is introduced midway through the differentiation process, this psychological phenomenon may be hindered, stunting the advanced personal development of the daughter. Abandoned by loss, she may subconsciously fall victim to repressive defenses, insufficient socialization, and destructive behaviors.

This study was an endeavor to delve into the discrepancies between nutrition knowledge, nutrition education, and the prevalence of these topics in collegiate athletes. Despite there being an extensive amount of research conducted on the impact on nutrition on athletic performance, there is often a lack of nutritional knowledge, among collegiate athletes (Abbey, et. al., Joint position statement). We used an electronically distributed nutrition survey (49SNKI) to assess the nutrition knowledge of Division II NCAA athletes in Ohio.
