Purpose: Stress is an inevitable part of an employee’s life. A majority of employees do not know how to properly handle stress and keep it under control. Having high level of occupational stress can lead to detrimental physical habits, such as poor nutrition, smoking, a sedentary lifestyle and substance consumption. Risk and risk-management have become increasingly pervasive features of modern society and governmentality scholars have highlighted various ways risk discourses are taken up to govern citizens and their everyday conduct. Thus, attending to risk is imperative to advance an understanding of how everyday occupation is shaped and governed within contemporary society.
