A Research On The Chemical Composition Of Pear Juice, Feryal Karadeni̇z

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The chemical composition of pear juice, prepared from Akça, Ankara, Passe Crassane, Santa Maria, Starkrimson, Seker and Williams varieties, was investigated. Fructose (mean, 5.41%) was the main sugar component in pear juice samples and it was followed by glucose (mean, 2.06%) and sucrose (mean, 0.52%). L-malic acid had the highest concentration (mean, 3.63 g/l) and small amount of citric acid was also found. Mineral compounds were ranked as K, P, Mg, Ca, Na and Fe in decreasing order, respectively.

Effect Of The Addition Of Zeolite To The Soil On Nitrification, Ahmet Ali̇ Işildar Jan 1999

Effect Of The Addition Of Zeolite To The Soil On Nitrification, Ahmet Ali̇ Işildar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In this research, the effect of zeolite on the nitrification of NH 4 + to NO 3 - which can result in the loss of N through the leaching of NO 3 - was investigated and the change in this effect at the different rates of soil moisture was studied. The experiment was arranged into a factorial design with two replications by using five surface soil samples (0-20 cm) which were taken from Isparta-Atabey region. Four rates of zeolite (0, 12.5, 25.0 and 50.0 g zeolite kg -1 soil) were mixed with soils and a solution containing ammonium sulphate ( …

Effect Of Phosphorus Fertilizers And Application Methods On The Yield Of Wheat Grown Under Dryland Conditions, Sabri̇ Gökmen, Özer Sencar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was conducted to investigate the efficiency of diammonium phosphate (DAP) and triple superphosphate (TSP) as phosphorus (P) sources and the effect of fertilizer application methods on the grain yield, yield components and other characteristics of winter wheat. The research was conducted in the ecological conditions of Tokat-Kazova during the 1990-1991 and 1991-1992 growing seasons. Bezostaja-I and Kirkpinar-79 cultivars were used as the plant materials. DAP and TSP fertilizers were applied according to four different methods, i. e., broadcasting, with seed, application 5 cm to the right and left of the seed and 5 cm below the seed. The …

The Effect Of Some Boron Compounds And Water Repellents On The Fire Resistanceproperties Of Scotch Pine Wood, Yalçin Örs, Musa Atar, Hüseyi̇n Peker Jan 1999

The Effect Of Some Boron Compounds And Water Repellents On The Fire Resistanceproperties Of Scotch Pine Wood, Yalçin Örs, Musa Atar, Hüseyi̇n Peker

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This investigation was designed to improve the fire-resistance properties of polyethlene glycole (PEG-400) and some water repellent solutions used to improve the flammability properties of wood. For this reason, samples from Scotch pine wood were impregnated according to ASTM-D 1413-76 boric acid, borax, sodium perbo-rate diluted or dissolved in PEG-400 were used as a preservative materials, and paraffin, styrene, methylmethacrylate and wax were used as a water repellent materials. It was found that, compounds contained boron increased the water resistance properties and water repellents materials resulted in the same decreasing the flammability behavior of wood.

Apomictic Development In Tetraploid Red Clover ( Trifolium Pratensel.), Gönül Algan, H. Nurhan Bakar Jan 1999

Apomictic Development In Tetraploid Red Clover ( Trifolium Pratensel.), Gönül Algan, H. Nurhan Bakar

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was carried out in order to determine to what extent apomictic development would affect seed formation in the natural tetraploid red clover variety E2. Some Taracaxum-type and lxeris-type development, was determined. It was concluded that embryo sac development did not occur through aposporous development whereas it could occur through diplosporous devel-opment.

Shear And Bending Strength Of Some End To End Grained Jointsprepared From Scotch Pine, Hani̇fi̇ Tokgöz, Ayhan Özçi̇fçi̇, Musa Atar, Burhanetti̇n Uysal

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was carried out to determine the shear and bending strength of different end-to-end grain joints, which were glued with PVAc (polyvinyl acetate). For this reason, specimens, prepared from scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris l), were made with three types of end to end grain joints namely: half-lap, mortise and tenon and double mortise-and-tenon. End-to-end grain of half-lap joints gave the highest strength in shear (2.385 N/mm 2 ) and bending (0.540 N/mm 2 ) experiments.

Studies On Effects Of Russian Knapweed (Acroptilon Repens (L.) Dc) And Butter Cup (Ranunculus Damascenus Boiss And Gaill), Causing Problem In Winter Wheat, On Yield And Determination Of Their Economical Thresholds In Van, İlhan Kaya, Işik Tepe Jan 1999

Studies On Effects Of Russian Knapweed (Acroptilon Repens (L.) Dc) And Butter Cup (Ranunculus Damascenus Boiss And Gaill), Causing Problem In Winter Wheat, On Yield And Determination Of Their Economical Thresholds In Van, İlhan Kaya, Işik Tepe

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In this study, effects of different densities of Russian knapweed (Acroptilon repens (L.) DC) and butter cup (Ranunculus damascenus Boiss and Gaill) on yield and yield components of winter wheat were researched in Van. It was determinated that, increasing densities of A. repens have decreased number of spike, grain, straw and total yield of wheat. But, increasing densities of R. damascenus have not been effective on yield and yield components because of being small constitution and having short growing period. Ten plants per m^2 of A. repens reduced grain and straw yields respectively 24.3 and 19%. These amounts are over …

The Effect Of Interesterification Reactions On The Tocopherols And The Sterols In Fats, Azi̇z Teki̇n, Muammer Kayahan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In this study, interesterification which has been used in developed countries for years and tried in Turkey recently, was applied to a sunflower oil and beef tallow blend (80:20). 25 sample fats were obtained by applying interestification at different temperatures and times by adding 0.3% sodium methoxide. The changes in the tocopherols and sterols of these fats were investigated. It was determined that the reaction was completed at 70°C in 45 minites and at higher temperatures and longer times using lipase hydrolysis. In conclusion tocopherols and sterols were esterified more quickly as time and temperature increased. Therefore, they were more …
