For many years, researchers have attempted to find a link between beauty and labor market outcomes. Although many important findings have been noted in these studies, the beauty analysis utilized was a subjective measurement. This subjective method, while important, may have external factors creating bias in the rating itself. In this study, the impact of beauty is applied to criminals and their sentences. Using a computer based symmetry measurement tool, an objective beauty measurement will be utilized. This thesis examines the compatibility of Shari'a-derived personal status laws in Egypt with the international legal obligation to eliminate gender discrimination (specifically in the area of family relations). In Egypt, the Shari'a-derived personal status law for Sunni Muslims governs family relations, including marriage, divorce, child custody and successions, and have been frequently criticized for discriminating against women. However, this body of law is not immutable, it has proven flexible over the centuries, and has accommodated many changes in society.

This was a phenomenological study undertaken to understand women's experience of the workers' compensation system. Eleven women were interviewed. They ranged in age from twenty-five to sixty-five years and represented diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds. All women were from a non-indigenous background. The initial question to women was "Can you tell me what it is like to be involved in the workers' compensation system?" The narratives were analysed and interpreted using Hycner's (1985) phenomenological guidelines. Five core themes were found: negative versus positive/neutral experiences, the workplaces response and role in the process, women's experiences of payouts and tribunals, reasons why …

This thesis examines the issue of gender equality in the Canadian criminal justice system. It dissects two specific issues, the disclosure of a sexual assault complainant's therapeutic or counselling records and the prosecution of domestic assault charges. Within these two issues it is argued that the criminal justice system has failed to treat female victims of violent crime fairly and equally. Moreover, it is suggested that this failure is anchored in a neglect of the appreciation of the unique gender issues connected to these matters within a contextual framework. The purpose of this investigation was to identify and analyze trends in Title IX’s impact and sex rations of athletic coaches and administrators in AIAW Division I intercollegiate athletic programs.
