Energy consumption is rapidly increasing throughout the world and the United States is no exception. Efforts to reduce the dependence on oil imports have focused on utilization of our coal resources. This paper examines various coal conversion processes and presents a method for evaluating their contribution to energy production.

Revised draft combines data previously published in two separate impact statements prepared by the corps relating to the dams, reservoirs and power plants and by the U. S. Department of Energy for transmission facilities to link the St. John River development to the New England power grid. The latter agency is responsible for the marketing and distribution of power generated at federally-financed installations.

The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of junior high/middle schools in the State of Iowa using selected. newly developed industrial arts curriculums and to determine if the senior high schools serviced by them were continuing to expand upon that base of knowledge.

Objectives of the Study.

1. To determine the percentage of Iowa junior high/ middle schools using one or more of the selected newly developed industrial arts curriculums.
