Transient Electrochemical Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopic Study In Electrochemical Reduction Of P-Nitrothiophenol, Yun Ling, Jing Tang, Guo-Kun Liu, Cheng Zong

Journal of Electrochemistry

P-nitrothiophenol (PNTP) is one of the most common probe molecules studied by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The research in electrochemical reduction behavior of PNTP will help understanding the mechanism for the nitrobenzene reduction. In this paper, we used transient electrochemical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TEC-SERS) to study the SERS of PNTP with cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry on gold electrodes. The results show that the TEC-SERS provide a time resolution that equals the transient electrochemical methods, and we concluded that the reaction was so quick that we did not observe the spectral information of intermediate species described in the literatures with a …

Fabrication And Characterization Of Nanofiber Nylon-6-Mwcnt As An Electrochemical Sensor For Sodium Ions Concentration Detection In Sweat, Kelsey Mills

Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

Fabrication and characterization nylon-6-MWCNT nanofiber as an electrochemical sensor to detect sodium ion concentrations specifically in sweat. Using contact angle to determine surface morphology and chronoamperometry testing to identify ideal sensor conditions, tests optimized parameters like weight percent of nylon or other polymers, carbon nanotube (CNT) isomer, and solution concentration to determine reproducibility of functional sensors. Utilizing the electric qualities of carbon nanotubes partnered with the sodium ion selectivity of calixarene treatment and polymers unique properties like flexibility and scalability create open an arena for optimizing sodium ion sensors for further development for functional prototypes. Morphology tests showed that the …

Reconstruction Of Distributions Of Nanoparticles Or Electroactive Nano-Components In Electrochemical Arrays Based On Chronoamperometric Data, Alexander Oleinick, Oleksii Sliusarenko, Irina Svir, Christian Amatore Apr 2017

Reconstruction Of Distributions Of Nanoparticles Or Electroactive Nano-Components In Electrochemical Arrays Based On Chronoamperometric Data, Alexander Oleinick, Oleksii Sliusarenko, Irina Svir, Christian Amatore

Journal of Electrochemistry

The main scope of this work was to elaborate and test a simple mathematical and numerical procedure for reconstructing the probability density distributions f(ρ) characterizing the distribution of electroactive or electrocatalytic nano-components present or deposited on the electrochemically-inert surface of a planar conductor based on the time-dependent chronoamperometric responses of the corresponding electrochemical array. The mathematical and numerical validity of the procedure was established for three types of arrays (one periodical, two involving random dispersions) involving near-spherical nano-components dispersed on a flat surface. Indeed, altogether, these three types represent most 2D-experimental electrochemical nano-arrays used for analytical or electrocatalytic purposes. This …

Molybdenum Disulfide-Conducting Polymer Composite Structures For Electrochemical Biosensor Applications, Hongxiang Jia Nov 2016

Molybdenum Disulfide-Conducting Polymer Composite Structures For Electrochemical Biosensor Applications, Hongxiang Jia

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Lactic acid is widely existing in human bodies, animals and microorganisms. Recently, using biosensor to detect the concentration of lactic acid and diagnose disease have attracted great research and development interests. Nanocomposites is one of the best material used for biosensor because their wonderful conductivity, optical and electrochemical properties. In the study, MoS2 and polypyrrole (PPY) are used for the composite material electrode. To determine whether lactate oxidase (LOD) was helpful for the biosensor’s detective properties, both PPY-MoS2 film with LOD and PPY-MoS2 film without LOD are being tested. The fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman …
