Design And Implementation Of A Fixture For Robotic Welding, Isaac Nathaniel Williams
Design And Implementation Of A Fixture For Robotic Welding, Isaac Nathaniel Williams
Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
The Cal Poly IME department recently purchased a robotic welder. The faculty would like to see this robot incorporated into the welding class. The robot was capable of moving, but was not able to perform a weld prior to this project. This problem is addressed by creating a demonstration part for the welding class. The objectives that need to be complete for this to be possible is designing a part, designing a fixture, analyzing the cost of robotic welding, and implement welding the part in the class. The part is designed with specific requirements in mind. The fixture is designed …
Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing, Micheal Santangelo
Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing, Micheal Santangelo
GS4 Georgia Southern Student Scholars Symposium
Additive manufacturing is a rapidly developing technology which promises to drastically reduce the cost and waste associated with manufacturing parts. However, current systems of additive manufacturing used for creating metal parts which are suitable for use in the aerospace, automotive, and defense industries are complex, expensive, and not robust enough to produce a wide range of part features and geometries. A relatively new method, called wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM) is a low cost option that can create parts which have a near-net shape, and only require a small amount of post processing before they are ready for use. This system, …
Development Of An Autonomous Robotic Mushroom Harvester, Nikita Alexeevich Kuchinskiy
Development Of An Autonomous Robotic Mushroom Harvester, Nikita Alexeevich Kuchinskiy
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
The process of development of a new robot is one of the modern technological arts. This process involves multiple complex steps and recursive approach. In this project, a solution for automatic harvesting of mushrooms is developed. In order to design an effective solution, it is necessary to explore and take into consideration the limitations of grasping very soft and fragile objects (particularly mushrooms). We will elaborate several strategies of picking and analyze each strategy to formulate the design requirements, develop a solution, and finally, evaluate the efficiency of the proposed solution in actual farm conditions for real mushrooms. The mushroom …

The goal of this project was to continue the development of a temporary rail system for a robotic tank inspection device. The tanks to be inspected are in a hazardous environment that is dangerous to work in and navigate. A remotely controlled robot could reduce the need for manual labor in the tanks to initial setup, final removal, and touch ups. Similar setups have been created for inspecting tanks, but they are permanent installations and are meant only for inspections.
The goal of the current phase of the project was to employ a new concept for supporting the rail system, …
