Naval Shipyard Workload Distribution, Leonard Charles Wolff Jan 1955

Naval Shipyard Workload Distribution, Leonard Charles Wolff

Professional Degree Theses

"In developing the subject of Naval Shipyard workload distribution emphasis will be given to the functions performed by the Workload Planning Branch of the Bureau of Ships, Navy Department, Washington, D. C.

If the naval ship repair and conversion workload for the next few years was firm, and if the workload remained constant, and if sufficient funds were available for the work, and if plans, materials and equipment were available, and if the employment level to accomplish the work assigned to the naval shipyards remained constant, the Bureau of Ships' problem of scheduling work would be minimized. The only problem …

Metallurgical Pulp Mill Processing For The White Pine Copper Company Project, White Pine, Michigan, Steve Theodorides Jan 1953

Metallurgical Pulp Mill Processing For The White Pine Copper Company Project, White Pine, Michigan, Steve Theodorides

Subsurface Pressure Regulation Of High Pressure Condensate Wells, John Oscar Farmer Jan 1942

Subsurface Pressure Regulation Of High Pressure Condensate Wells, John Oscar Farmer

Professional Degree Theses

"The discovery of deeper production and higher pressures has resulted in the need for control equipment for preserving and protecting these great reservoirs of energy; and, in the case of high pressure condensate wells, has resulted in the need for means for preventing freezing or hydrate solidification caused by throttling the production. Development of a successful removable subsurface regulator has enabled operators to reduce dangerously high surface flowing pressures to safe workable limits; and, by moving the point of principal pressure reduction from the surface to warmer subsurface levels, has resulted in complete elimination of freezing conditions in flow lines. …

Applicability Of Hydraulic Drives To Oil-Well Pumping, James Francis Mcdonald Jan 1942

Applicability Of Hydraulic Drives To Oil-Well Pumping, James Francis Mcdonald

Professional Degree Theses

"To date, to the author's knowledge, there has been no successful application of the hydraulic drive to oil-well pumping. It is understood, however, that there is, at the present time, an installation in the Oklahoma City oil field, near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, wherein a manufacturer of hydraulic couplings and an oil-producing company have cooperated in experimental work with the fluid drive applied to a pumping well. No technical data or information regarding the success of the application have, as yet, been released and, consequently, this work is presented primarily for the purpose of creating interest in the application of "Fluid …

The Application Of Fluid Level Measurements To Oil Wells In Kansas, Charles Calvert Rodd Jan 1940

The Application Of Fluid Level Measurements To Oil Wells In Kansas, Charles Calvert Rodd

Professional Degree Theses

"The mechanics of determining fluid levels and a knowledge of the depth-to-fluid in a well are matters of general interest. To the oil-producer, however, such information is of value only as it may affect the operation of a well or reservoir"--Uses of Fluid-Level Measurements, page 9.

Cupola Practice In Modern Gray Iron Foundry, George E. Mellow Jan 1924

Cupola Practice In Modern Gray Iron Foundry, George E. Mellow

Professional Degree Theses

"Cupola practice, as described in this paper, will include only the practical operation of a cupola and the details of the work necessary in daily routine, and very little of the theory of combustion, or history of cupola development, is presented. A brief description of the cupola will give an idea of its construction, and the names of the parts may be found on the sketch herewith"--page 1.

Boiler Feed Water Purification At The Gorge Power Plant, Akron, Ohio, Bernerd William Adams Jan 1923

Boiler Feed Water Purification At The Gorge Power Plant, Akron, Ohio, Bernerd William Adams

Professional Degree Theses

"The conditions of operation at the Gorge Power Plant were such that raw water was used in all the boilers. The boilers were operated at an average of about one-hundred and seventy-five percent rating and considerable scale formed in the tubes of the boilers. It was evident that this caused a large loss in fuel and increased the expense of maintenance. It was necessary to employ a number of men to remove the scale. An investigation was made to determine as nearly as possible the loss caused by the use of impure water. After the investigation, an attempt was made …
