Multisensor Fusion Using Fuzzy Logic For An Integrated Smart Health Monitoring System, Amit Mojanty, Chris Leach, Ajay Mahajan
Dr. Ajay Mahajan
This paper presents a generic model for an integrated smart health monitoring system for infrastructures using multisensor fusion and condition assessment sheets. Though various techniques for health monitoring have been discussed extensively in the literature, little attention has been given to obtain high quality data from the measurement and sensing system by using an intrinsic knowledge base. The method proposed in this paper uses measurement data from different types of sensors with different resolutions and fuses it together based on the confidence in them derived from information not typically used in traditional data fusion methods. Examples of such information are …

A Fuzzy Logic Based Decision Making System For Fusing Measurements From An E-Puffer And E-Sniffer Sensing Systems For Detecting Explosives, Sanjeevi Chitikeshi, Ajay Mahajan, Tsuchin Chu, Jarlen Don
Dr. Ajay Mahajan
This is primarily a concept paper and describes a decision making system that fuses the output from cold plasma based E-Puffer and E-Sniffer sensing systems to reliably detect explosive traces. This paper describes research and development of a novel non-contact method to detect explosive bearing personnel, baggage and vehicles that is based on the integration of a multitude of key technologies, primarily cold/atmospheric plasma and pattern recognition/decision making capabilities. This work will ultimately lead to a viable system that can be installed in doorways of buildings, garages, baggage carousals, etc. that will trigger a positive response when detecting explosive traces …
Fuzzy Logic Based Model For Predicting Surface Roughness Of Machined Al-Si-Cu-Fe Die Casting Alloy Using Different Additives-Turning
Faculty of Engineering University of Malaya
This paper presents a fuzzy logic artificial intelligence technique for predicting the machining performance of Al-Si-Cu-Fe die casting alloy treated with different additives including strontium, bismuth and antimony to improve surface roughness. The Pareto-ANOVA optimization method was used to obtain the optimum parameter conditions for the machining process. Experiments were carried out using oblique dry CNC turning. The machining parameters of cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut were optimized according to surface roughness values. The results indicated that a cutting speed of 250 m/min, a feed rate of 0.05 mm/rev, and a depth of cut of 0.15 mm …
