The Alumunium Titanium Nitrogen (AlTiN) coating is known as one of the best coating materials for protective coating, while Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) is a laser coating process used for electric layer and superconductor applications, producing thin films up to 20 µm in thickness. The combination of these two matters has already been researched and is still in progress. One major challenge in the aluminium casting industry is to minimize the damage caused to tool steel pins made from SKD61, when aluminium material sticks to the pin, and halting production. Therefore, research on effective coatings for tool steels and testing …
Launching A 3d Printing Program For Students: Recommendations And Best Practices For Libraries, Wilhelmina Randtke, Lee Bareford
Launching A 3d Printing Program For Students: Recommendations And Best Practices For Libraries, Wilhelmina Randtke, Lee Bareford
Georgia Library Quarterly
The Georgia Southern University Libraries launched a 3D printing program for students in July 2022. Prior to launch, library employees at two of Georgia Southern University’s campuses investigated options for implementing safe, affordable, and sustainable 3D printing in existing academic libraries without retrofitting costly ventilation systems into existing facilities. This article describes the reasons why the Georgia Southern University Libraries thought that a 3D printing program could fulfill a service need for students across university colleges and departments and outlines some of the challenges, best practices, and unique innovations that the library’s employees experienced throughout the program launch process. The …

Computational Design Of Nonlinear Stress-Strain Of Isotropic Materials, Askhad M.Polatov, Akhmat M. Ikramov, Daniyarbek Razmukhamedov
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The article deals with the problems of numerical modeling of nonlinear physical processes of the stress-strain state of structural elements. An elastoplastic medium of a homogeneous solid material is investigated. The results of computational experiments on the study of the process of physically nonlinear deformation of isotropic elements of three-dimensional structures with a system of one- and double-periodic spherical cavities under uniaxial compression are presented. The influence and mutual influence of stress concentrators in the form of spherical cavities, vertically located two cavities and a horizontally located system of two cavities on the deformation of the structure are investigated. Numerical …

Dynamic Analysis Of Viscoelastic Circular Diaphragm Of A Mems Capacitive Pressure Sensor Using Modified Differential Transformation Method, Dr Olurotimi A. Adeleye, Muritala Yusuf, Oluwaseyi .. Balogun
Karbala International Journal of Modern Science
In this paper, a dynamic analysis of the viscoelastic circular diaphragm of a Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) capacitive pressure sensor using the Modified Differential Transformation Method (MDTM) is presented. The MEMS technology has been increasingly used to fabricate sensors and actuators and the MEMS capacitive pressure sensor is emerging in many high-performance applications. The deflection of these sensors diaphragm (plate) depends largely on the material of the diaphragm. In this study, a circular diaphragm of viscoelastic material is modeled using the classical plate theory. The governing differential equation is solved using Modified Differential Transformation Method (MDTM) and the result is validated …

Experimental And Theoretical Evaluation Of The Effect Of Panel Geometry On The Failure Of Corrugated Board Panel, Takashi Takayama, Katsuhiko Saito, Akira Higashiyama
Journal of Applied Packaging Research
McKee’s formula is widely used to predict the compression strength (CS) of corrugated boxes and panels. It can accurately estimate the compression strength of boxes that are within a practical size range, but recently, larger and smaller corrugated boxes than before have been extensively developed. Therefore, there is a need for a CS prediction formula that works beyond the application range of McKee’s formula. Recent researches consider the failure mode as a combination of collapsing and buckling failure and remove the constraints and the assumptions associated with McKee’s formula. This makes it possible to more accurately estimate the CS of …
Experimental Tests And Numerical Simulations For Failure Investigation On Corrugated Boxes Used On Household Appliance Packaging, Diego Fernandes Rodrigues, José Carlos Pereira
Experimental Tests And Numerical Simulations For Failure Investigation On Corrugated Boxes Used On Household Appliance Packaging, Diego Fernandes Rodrigues, José Carlos Pereira
Journal of Applied Packaging Research
Packages made of corrugated paper are fundamental to the protection, transportation and handling of the appliance product market. During the storage and sales stages of a product, the package must resist compressive loads in different directions beyond moderate impacts. In this context, the objective of this work is to develop and implement a post-processor that allows the simultaneous analysis of two of the most common failure modes of packages made of corrugated paper: failure due to tensile or compressive stress limit, and failure due to local buckling, when the buckling of the faces of the corrugated paper between two peaks …

A Study In The Use Of Elastic Materials In Expandable Containment Units, Andrew J. Eisenman, Joby Anthony Iii, David Satagaj
Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship
The rigidity of materials in conjunction with the aspect of elasticity has been a concern of modern technologies and construction in recent centuries because of the advantages that expandable storage would bring to the fields of containment units with respect to population growth and space exploration. The world population is currently growing at an exponential rate, and as our population grows, the more important it will become to have containment units that can both contain large volumes of material as well as minuscule amounts of material without wasting space. In order accomplish this, we will need a new type of …

Measurement Of The Coefficient Of Thermal Expansion Of Superconducting Thin Films Using Powder X-Ray Diffraction, Biju Chandran, R. Calvin Goforth, S. Nasrazadani
Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science
The High Density Electronics Center (HiDEC) at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville is developing the technology for High Temperature Superconductor Multi-Chip Modules (HTSC-MCM's). As part of this work, we are looking at the mechanical properties of HTSC materials. An important mechanical property which influences the mechanical integrity of the hybrid MCMis the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the HTSC films. As a first step in developing a procedure for the determination of the CTE of HTSC materials, the lattice parameters and the CTE of an alpha-alumina substrate have been determined by powder x-ray diffraction technique. An extension of this …
The Burnett Control Gate For Irrigation Channels, B Swan
The Burnett Control Gate For Irrigation Channels, B Swan
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
THIS type of check-gate for use in irrigation ditches, was evolved on the Kimberley Research Station and has definite advantages over wooden or concrete structures in that it is termite-proof and can be removed and replaced in a few minutes to permit of the channel being cleaned out by straight runs with modern machinery.
