Simulation Analysis In Dynamic Performance Of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Under Starting Condition, Yan Xiao, Ying-Jie Chang, Wei Zhang, Qiu-Hong Jia Apr 2018

Simulation Analysis In Dynamic Performance Of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Under Starting Condition, Yan Xiao, Ying-Jie Chang, Wei Zhang, Qiu-Hong Jia

Journal of Electrochemistry

Based on the equivalent circuit model, by considering both the dynamic gas pressure model and the dynamic heat transfer model, a lumped parameter model is developed. The start process of the fuel cell is simulated by using SIMULINK software. The undershoot of the voltage is observed from the simulation results, and the response time of the voltage is basically the same as that of the fuel cell temperature, which indicates that the temperature has great influence on the dynamic performance of the fuel cell. From the perspective of the temperature, the dynamic responses of the thermodynamic potential, the activation overvoltage, …

Effects Of Temperature On The Nucleation And Growth Mechanism Of Pbo2 Electrodeposition, Lei Wang, Juan-Qin Xue, Li-Hua Yu, Chang-Bin Tang, Qiang Bi Aug 2017

Effects Of Temperature On The Nucleation And Growth Mechanism Of Pbo2 Electrodeposition, Lei Wang, Juan-Qin Xue, Li-Hua Yu, Chang-Bin Tang, Qiang Bi

Journal of Electrochemistry

In order to investigate the effects of temperature on the nucleation and growth of lead dioxide (PbO2), the in situ electrochemical depositions of PbO2 were carried out on the glassy carbon electrode at different temperatures, namely, 25℃,35℃, 45℃, 55℃, and 65℃.The cyclic voltammetric curves, the time-current and the time-potential curves,SEM images and XRD patterns of the PbO2 coatings deposited at different temperatures were obtained. The results showed that the PbO2 underwent nucleation and grew at different temperatures. The 3D continuous nucleation mode of PbO2 electrodeposition remained unchanged with the increase of temperature. However, the …

Study On The Mechanical Behavior Of Directly Compounded Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites, Yuchao Liu May 2017

Study On The Mechanical Behavior Of Directly Compounded Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites, Yuchao Liu

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

With great lightweight potential, high performance-to-cost ratio and mass productivity, direct-compounded long fiber thermoplastics (D-LFT) have drawn great attention from the automotive industry. With better mechanical properties and higher service temperature, polyamide 6 (PA6) was used to replace polypropylene (PP) which is almost the exclusively used matrix for the D-LFT process currently. The investigation was performed on this new material with a focus on the effect of fiber content, processing parameters, temperature and tailored reinforcement on mechanical behavior. The results show that the mechanical properties of this new material are sensitive to the variation of fiber content and service temperature …

Deflector Effects In Fixed Bed (Biomass) Combustors And Non-Combusting Packed Beds, Babak Rashidian Jan 2016

Deflector Effects In Fixed Bed (Biomass) Combustors And Non-Combusting Packed Beds, Babak Rashidian

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

Combustion can be used to thermally process biomass fuels and yield both heat and power in a sustainable manner. At present, direct combustion of solid biomass is the primary approach for generating electricity and heat when these fuels are used at a commercial scale.

Deflectors have been used in the freeboard section of industrial combustors to reduce radiant heat loss through flue gases and for particle emissions abatement. Freeboard deflectors can also influence emissions and freeboard temperature distributions by changing the flow dynamics. Despite much research into laboratory scale biomass combustion and packed beds, there have been no systematic studies …

Environment-Induced Degradations In A Target Structural Material For Transmutation Applications, Ramprashad Prabhakaran Aug 2004

Environment-Induced Degradations In A Target Structural Material For Transmutation Applications, Ramprashad Prabhakaran

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

This investigation is focused on the evaluation of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and localized corrosion behavior of Type 422 stainless steel in aqueous environments at ambient and elevated temperature. The results of constant load SCC testing using smooth specimens showed no failure in the neutral solution but a threshold stress of 97 ksi was observed in the 90°C acidic environment. SCC testing by the slow-strain-rate test method indicate that the time-to-failure, true failure stress and ductility parameters were gradually reduced with increasing temperature, showing more pronounced effect in the acidic solution. The application of a controlled cathodic potential showed further …

Finite Element Frequency Domain Solution Of Nonlinear Panel Flutter With Temperature Effects And Fatigue Life Analysis, David Yongxiang Xue Oct 1991

Finite Element Frequency Domain Solution Of Nonlinear Panel Flutter With Temperature Effects And Fatigue Life Analysis, David Yongxiang Xue

Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Theses & Dissertations

A frequency domain solution method for nonlinear panel flutter with thermal effects using a consistent finite element formulation has been developed. The von Karman nonlinear strain-displacement relation is used to account for large deflections, the quasi-steady first-order piston theory is employed for aerodynamic loading and the quasi-steady thermal stress theory is applied for the thermal stresses with a given change of the temperature distribution, ΔΤ (x, y, z). The equation of motion under a combined thermal-aerodynamic loading can be mathematically separated into two equations and then solved in sequence: (1) thermal-aerodynamic postbuckling and (2) limit-cycle oscillation. The Newton-Raphson iteration technique …
