Passive bistatic radar (PBR) is a fairly active area of research due to the opportunities offered by the ability to use emitters of opportunity for target detection and tracking as well as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging. There is an increasing variety and availability of signals that can be exploited for passive radar and there is also the advantage of angular diversity offered by the bistatic geometry and the potential for stealth operations afforded a passive receiver.
