Implementation Of A Modified Perturb And Observe Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm For Photovoltaic System Using An Embedded Microcontroller, Dr. Adel A. Elbaset

Dr. Adel A. Elbaset

The conventional algorithm of perturb and observe (P&O) is widely applied due to its simplicity, low cost and easy implementation. However, it suffers from instabilities during rapid changes of weather and/or oscillation around maximum power point (MPP) at steady state. Instabilities occur due to the incorrect decision taken by the conventional P&O algorithm at the first step change in duty cycle during the rapid change in radiation. The reason for the steadystate oscillation is the continuous perturbation and tradeoff between step sizes and the convergence time. This study presents a modified P&O algorithm to overcome such drawbacks. It uses a …

Battery Energy Storage System In Solar Power Generation, Radhey Shyam Meena Er.

Radhey Shyam Meena

As solar photovoltaic power generation becomes more commonplace, the inherent intermittency of the solar resource poses one of the great challenges to those who would design and implement the next generation smart grid. Specifically, grid-tied solar power generation is a distributed resource whose output can change extremely rapidly, resulting in many issues for the distribution system operator with a large quantity of installed photovoltaic devices. Battery energy storage systems are increasingly being used to help integrate solar power into the grid. These systems are capable of absorbing and delivering both real and reactive power with sub-second response times. With these …

Dynamic Modeling Of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Stack Based On Local Linear Model Tree Algorithm, Hesamoddin Marzooghi, M. Raoofat, M. Dehghani, G. H. Elahi

Hesamoddin Marzooghi

This paper presents a dynamic model for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) stack using Local Linear Model Tree (LOLIMOT) algorithm which is useful for both dynamic and steady-state studies. Most of conventional SOFC models require a large number of parameters and factors, which are difficult to be determined or estimated. In this paper, a LOLIMOT-based model, which does not require the parameters of fuel cell, is proposed for each operation mode of SOFC. In these models, decision tree-based feature selection approach is exploited to select inputs of the LOLIMOT. The proposed models are trained in a short time and they …

Modeling And Simulation Of Z-Source Inverter, Suresh L Jan 2012

Modeling And Simulation Of Z-Source Inverter, Suresh L

suresh L

Z – source inverters have been recently proposed as an alternative power conversion concept as they have both voltage buck and boost capabilities. These inverters use a unique impedance network, coupled between the power source and converter circuit, to provide both voltage buck and boost properties, which cannot be achieved with conventional voltage source and current source inverters. To facilitate understanding of Z – source inverter, this paper presents a detailed analysis, showing design of impedance network, implementation of simple Boost control PWM technique and simulation of Z – source inverter for different values of modulation indices.

Nonlinear Multivariable Modeling Of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Using Core Vector Regression, M. Mohammadi, M. Raoofat, Hesamoddin Marzooghi, G. B. Gharehpetiangharehpetian

Hesamoddin Marzooghi

This paper presents new steady-state and dynamic models for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) using core vector regression (CVR). So far, most of conventional SOFC models have been presented based on conversion laws. Due to complex mathematical equations used in these models, they are time-consuming and need large amount of memory to be applied for controller design, especially power electronic interface controller design, generation and load predictions, optimization and other studies. To overcome these problems, some black-box models, such as support vector machine (SVM) and artificial neural network (ANN)-based models have been also proposed for SOFC. In this paper, in …
