The California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo’s Electrical Engineering Department is currently developing lab experiments for the new EE435 (Industrial Power Control and Automation) class. In order to support these efforts, fourth year Cal Poly students are expected to develop laboratory experiments that will be conducted during this new class for the semester system. The lab experiment focused on in this project is called the Tank Level Controller. This experiment will introduce EE 435 students to Schneider Electric Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware and software, which is prominent in the automation industry.

The technological method of storing and processing oilseed raw materials is structurally modelled in the article. Additionally, it is suggested that the generalized structure be presented as a three-part scheme, consisting of a raw material department, a processing shop, and transportation networks. On the basis of a thorough examination of the characteristics of the constituent parts of the technological complex, a practical model for the problem of the general characteristics of the technological complex is proposed.

It is shown that the development and implementation of virtual analyzers of the quality of the final industrial products is an effective tool for increasing the efficiency of industrial production. The methodology and stages of development of virtual analyzers for predicting the quality of products, monitoring non-measurable or difficult-to-measure parameters of continuous and periodic technological processes are considered, and issues of supporting and adapting a virtual analyzer during its operation without restructuring are also considered.

Ammonia presents high efficiency in freezing food products for preserving them for exportation; however, the use of this refrigerant implies a high risk to human life because it presents high concentrations of toxic gases that can produce deadly consequences to human beings. Smart relays present a flexible manner to automate industrial process; therefore, this poster aims to replace the manual and inefficient manner of controlling ammonia cooling system by using a smart relay that can control the levels of this refrigerant in the precooler and cooler section; resulting in considerable decrease workers’ in exposure to this refrigerant.

Recent work on economic model predictive control (EMPC) has indicated that some processes may be operated in a more economically-optimal fashion under a time-varying operating policy than under a steady-state operating policy. However, a concern for time-varying operation is how such a change in operating policy might impact the equipment within which the processes being controlled are carried out. In this thesis, we develop a framework for E-health Cyber Ecosystems, and look into different involved actors. The three interested parties in the ecosystem including patients, doctors, and healthcare providers are discussed in 3 different phases. In Phase 1, machine-learning based modeling and simulation analysis is performed to remotely predict a patient's risk level of having heart diseases in real time. In Phase 2, an online dynamic queueing model is devised to pair doctors with patients having high risk levels (diagnosed in Phase 1) to confirm the risk, and provide help. This paper aims at determining the influential factors affecting regenerative braking energy in DC rail transit systems. This has been achieved by quantitatively evaluating the dependence of regenerative energy on various parameters, such as vehicle dynamics, train scheduling, ground inclination and efficiency of the electrical devices. The recuperated power and energy have been presented by a mathematical model, comprising of a set of empirical forms, which allows for thorough analysis. A detailed simulation model of a typical DC-traction system has been developed to validate the developed empirical forms. In this paper, the impact of clustering multiple microgrids during blackouts, on their stability and supply availability, will be investigated. Microgrids have the capability of satisfying their emergency loads during blackouts. However, distributed energy resources (DERs)-dominated microgrids are affected by the uncertainty of their input energy supply, e.g. impact of solar irradiance on photovoltaic (PV) output. Moreover, an individual islanded microgrid is prone to instability issues due to large sudden load/generation changes.
