Enhancing Information Architecture With Machine Learning For Digital Media Platforms, Taylor N. Mietzner Apr 2024

Enhancing Information Architecture With Machine Learning For Digital Media Platforms, Taylor N. Mietzner

Honors College Theses

Modern advancements in machine learning are transforming the technological landscape, including information architecture within user experience design. With the unparalleled amount of user data generated on online media platforms and applications, an adjustment in the design process to incorporate machine learning for categorizing the influx of semantic data while maintaining a user-centric structure is essential. Machine learning tools, such as the classification and recommendation system, need to be incorporated into the design for user experience and marketing success. There is a current gap between incorporating the backend modeling algorithms and the frontend information architecture system design together. The aim of …

The Impact Of Ai In Gaming Industry, Huang Xiaorong Jan 2024

The Impact Of Ai In Gaming Industry, Huang Xiaorong

MA Theses

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the application
of AI art in game development is becoming increasingly popular. AI art can not only help game developers speed up the creative process but also improve the visual quality and user experience of games. This paper provides an overview of the application of AI art in games, including character design, scene generation, animation production, and more. It also discusses the challenges and future directions of AI art. Through comprehensive analysis of existing research and practices, we find that AI art has tremendous potential in game development but still faces …

Self && Self, Shuang Cai Jan 2021

Self && Self, Shuang Cai

Senior Projects Spring 2021

Seldom before the COVID-19 pandemic have so many people simultaneously had their lifestyle drastically changed in the same way. The forced physical isolation is, ironically, a communal experience. The sickening quarantine left everyone nothing but time to confront and reconnect with themselves. Another inevitable result of corporal isolation is the predominant awakening awareness of digital existences and connections. Evoking the shared sensitivity and delicacy, studying the tectonic activity of the digital world, the project documents the endured contemplation in the upcoming resurgence.

Dissertations and Theses

This study assessed domestic violence from the perspective of the victims who experienced trauma due to sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse in Pakistan.

Recipe For Disaster, Zac Travis Mar 2019

Recipe For Disaster, Zac Travis

MFA Thesis Exhibit Catalogs

Today’s rapid advances in algorithmic processes are creating and generating predictions through common applications, including speech recognition, natural language (text) generation, search engine prediction, social media personalization, and product recommendations. These algorithmic processes rapidly sort through streams of computational calculations and personal digital footprints to predict, make decisions, translate, and attempt to mimic human cognitive function as closely as possible. This is known as machine learning.

The project Recipe for Disaster was developed by exploring automation in technology, specifically through the use of machine learning and recurrent neural networks. These algorithmic models feed on large amounts of data as a …

Real-Time Audio-Midi Controller, Brian Shino Balberchak Apr 2018

Real-Time Audio-Midi Controller, Brian Shino Balberchak

Computer Engineering

Most MIDI controllers used in music production use a regular keyboard to generate the MIDI notes that are sent to the synthesizer. This project aims to provide the user with a different way of generating MIDI data: by playing an instrument of their choice with a passive electronic pickup to generate MIDI notes that correspond with the fundamental frequency of the musical pitch being played. The pitch-detecting algorithm used in this application utilizes a modified form of auto-correlation.

As an embedded systems project that uses signal-processing techniques, the knowledge of topics from the following courses was essential:

EE 211: Op-Amp …

Using Static Analysis And Dalvik Bytecode On Android Compass Applications To Detect Operational Anomalies, Arti J. Tripathi Jan 2018

Using Static Analysis And Dalvik Bytecode On Android Compass Applications To Detect Operational Anomalies, Arti J. Tripathi

Senior Projects Spring 2018

The focus of this paper is the functionality of Android applications and the detection of functional anomalies though a basic static analysis approach. The intention of this research is analyzing applications without running them and detecting how application behavior might correlate with method call patterns. We will focus on simple free compass applications because their ostensible simplicity will make high variation in methods calls an interesting phenomenon. We employ clustering algorithms and other statistical methods to isolate a particularly unusual collection of applications and then perform a qualitative analysis of these applications to discover any interesting common operational behavior or …

Scare Tactics, Tiago Martines, Gabriel Ortega, Karan Sahu, Lucas Pereira Vasconcelos, Henrique Silva Chaltein De Almeida

Theses

It is the purpose of this document to describe the design and development processes of Scare Tactics. The game will be discussed in further detail as it relates to several areas, such as market analysis, development process, game design, technical design, and each team members’ individual area of background research. The research areas include asymmetrical game design, level design, game engine architecture, real-time graphics, user interface design, networking and artificial intelligence.

As part of the team’s market analysis, other games featuring asymmetric gameplay are discussed. The games described in this section serve as inspirations for asymmetric game design. Some …

Towards A Filmic Look And Feel In Real Time Computer Graphics, Sherief Farouk May 2013

Towards A Filmic Look And Feel In Real Time Computer Graphics, Sherief Farouk

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Film footage has a distinct look and feel that audience can instantly recognize, making its replication desirable for computer generated graphics. This thesis presents methods capable of replicating significant portions of the film look and feel while being able to fit within the constraints imposed by real-time computer generated graphics on consumer hardware.

Touch Screen Sound Controller, James Fenley, Jonathan Law Jun 2010

Touch Screen Sound Controller, James Fenley, Jonathan Law

Electrical Engineering

The Touch Screen Sound Controller sets out to explore the use of a touch screen as a sound control interface for the disk jockey profession. In addition, the project aims to provide an alternate means of transferring audio data by way of TCP/IP communications as opposed to MIDI. By applying our method, a user may stream pulse-code modulated data from a server onto a client’s RAM via an Ethernet connection. A 32bit, 200MHz ARM9 microprocessor addresses data from the RAM and proceeds with executing DSP instructions from the user. The connection between the touch screen and the central microprocessor is …
