The Assessments Of Internet-Based Technology Use By University Academic Members, Mohammed Alghamdi

BAU Journal - Science and Technology

Social networking applications (SNAs), as technologies that rely on internet infrastructure, are widely used as platforms for user interaction, content creation and social communication. However, in recent years, SNAs have been used in the context of teaching and learning, and this aspect, as well as others, has attracted research attention. Limited research has investigated the motivations and barriers to teaching with SNAs in higher education, and so this study sought to examine the purposes, motivations and barriers associated with SNA use in education among academic members at Albaha University, Saudi Arabia. A quantitative research design involving a sample of academic …

Predicting Customer Retention Of An App-Based Business Using Supervised Machine Learning, Jeswin Jose Jan 2019

Predicting Customer Retention Of An App-Based Business Using Supervised Machine Learning, Jeswin Jose

Dissertations

Identification of retainable customers is very essential for the functioning and growth of any business. An effective identification of retainable customers can help the business to identify the reasons of retention and plan their marketing strategies accordingly. This research is aimed at developing a machine learning model that can precisely predict the retainable customers from the total customer data of an e-learning business. Building predictive models that can efficiently classify imbalanced data is a major challenge in data mining and machine learning. Most of the machine learning algorithms deliver a suboptimal performance when introduced to an imbalanced dataset. A variety …

A Model For Flipping Electrical Engineering With E-Learning Using A Multidimensional Approach, Dursun Akaslan, Effie Lai-Chong Law Jan 2016

A Model For Flipping Electrical Engineering With E-Learning Using A Multidimensional Approach, Dursun Akaslan, Effie Lai-Chong Law

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper proposes a model for supporting electrical engineering with e-learning. The model development is based on survey data collected from representative teachers and students studying in higher education institutions in Turkey. To develop the model, the study investigated the attitudes of the representative key stakeholders in the relevant higher education institutions towards e-learning by administrating questionnaires and interviews with teachers and students. The responses of the teachers and students were then compared. Based on the results, a model was proposed with a multidimensional approach to e-learning. The model flips electrical engineering to make sure that the students review, discuss, …

The Effect Of Learning Styles And E-Learning Tools On The Training Of Ict To Digital Immigrants In Life Long Learning, Stephen Horan Jan 2012

The Effect Of Learning Styles And E-Learning Tools On The Training Of Ict To Digital Immigrants In Life Long Learning, Stephen Horan

Dissertations

The diversity of learners in the classroom has expanded significantly in the past twenty years, in a modern classroom it is unsurprising to see learners for whom English is not their first language, learners with specific learning difficulties, mature learners, learners attempting to return to work, etc., so much so that the 'typical' learner has become extinct. This research will look at the use of Information Communication Technology in Education by undertaking an investigation of how the use of ICT can aid learners, both digital natives and digital immigrants. The project will use learning styles at the core of an …

An Investigation Into Internetworking Education, Woratat Makasiranondh

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

Computer network technology and the Internet grew rapidly in recent years. Their growth created a large demand from industry for the development of IT and internetworking professionals. These professionals need to be equipped with both technical hands-on skills and non-technical or soft skills. In order to supply new professionals to the industry, educational institutions need to address these skills training in their curricula. Technical hands-on skills in internetworking education can be emphasised through the practical use of equipment in classrooms.
