The bearing capacity of shallow foundations is significantly affected by stratum uncertainty, mainly including geological uncertainty and spatial variability of soil properties. The influence of geological uncertainty and soil spatial variability on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations has been separately investigated in previous studies.
