Dynamic Behaviors Of Micp And Fiber-Treated Calcareous Sand Under Dynamic Triaxial Testing, Rui Wang, Xiao-Hua Pan, Chao-Sheng Tang, Chao L, Dian-Long Wang, Zhi-Hao Dong, Bin Shi

Rock and Soil Mechanics

To improve the liquefaction resistance of calcareous sand foundations, microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) technology and fiber reinforcement technology was combined to treat the calcareous sand sampled from the South China Sea. Based on dynamic triaxial tests, the dynamic behaviors of MICP-treated and fiber-reinforced calcareous sand, including dynamic strain, dynamic pore pressure, stress−strain hysteresis loop and dynamic modulus of elasticity, were analyzed. Then, the strengthening mechanism of MICP and fiber on the mechanical properties of the treated calcareous sand was explored from the microscopic point of view, based on the scanning electron microscope (SEM) test results. The results show …

Macroscopic And Microscopic Experimental Study On Fractal Fragmentation Characteristics Of Calcareous Sand During One-Dimensional Compression Creep, Bin Chen, Jian Deng, Jie-Ming Hu, Jian-Lin Zhang, Tao Zhang

Rock and Soil Mechanics

Calcareous sand is a natural foundation material for ports, airports and some civil buildings in ocean areas. Through the one-dimensional compression creep test of calcareous sand and the analysis of its micro-structure, it was found that the surface pore area decreased after creep and showed a dispersed distribution. In addition, the characteristics of instantaneous deformation, rapid deformation and attenuation deformation of the sample during the test were highly correlated with the particle size. The relative particle breakage rate and mass fractal dimension improved based on fractal theory were used to describe the degree of particle breakage after creep. The relationship …

Approach To 3d Reconstruction Of Calcareous Sand Using 2d Images Of Multi-View, Cong Hu, Zhi-Lin Long, Du-Min Kuang, Zhao-Mao Gong, Piao-Yi Yu, Guo-Bin Xu May 2022

Approach To 3d Reconstruction Of Calcareous Sand Using 2d Images Of Multi-View, Cong Hu, Zhi-Lin Long, Du-Min Kuang, Zhao-Mao Gong, Piao-Yi Yu, Guo-Bin Xu

Rock and Soil Mechanics

This study makes the 3D reconstruction of complex-shaped particles based on the multi-view of 2D images. The complex-shaped calcareous sand particles are taken as samples, and typical complex-shaped particles such as block, strip, and dendrite are reconstructed. The final reconstruction accuracy is characterized by convexity, circularity, aspect ratio, and other shape indicators. In the reconstruction process, the initial projection plane of the particles is rotated around the axis to obtain a series of 2D projection images of the particles, and the boundary coordinates are extracted. Then, the 3D point cloud is used to match the coordinates of the obtained 2D …

Study On Domestication Of Sporosarcina Pasteurii And Cementation Effect Of Calcareous Sand In Seawater Environment, Yao Xiao, Hua-Feng Deng, Jian-Lin Li, Lei Cheng, Wen-Xi Zhu Apr 2022

Study On Domestication Of Sporosarcina Pasteurii And Cementation Effect Of Calcareous Sand In Seawater Environment, Yao Xiao, Hua-Feng Deng, Jian-Lin Li, Lei Cheng, Wen-Xi Zhu

Rock and Soil Mechanics

This study aims to improve the cementation effect of microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) technology on calcareous sand in the marine environment. On the basis of previous studies, the multi-gradient artificial domestication and culture test of Sporosarcina pasteurii in the artificial seawater environment was carried out. Combined with the mechanical test and microstructural analysis of MICP-cemented calcareous sand column, the domestication effect of Sporosarcina pasteurii was evaluated. The results showed that: (1) The bacterial concentration after five-gradient domestication in the seawater environment can reach more than 97% of that in the freshwater environment, and after interaction with cementing fluid, the …
