Utilization of industrial waste products as supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) in concrete making is very important aspect in view of economical, environmental and technical reasons. As these supplementary cementitious materials have different chemical and mineralogical composition, their effect on micro structural properties and strength performance vary considerably. While producing paper, various wastes come out from the various processes in paper industries. The preliminary waste from paper industry is named as hypo sludge. In this study the material obtained from the paper industry waste (hypo sludge) is admixed with Portland cement at different replacement levels. The properties of concrete investigated include …

Mudflow Disaster Damage Job Opportunity, Disrupt Social Life And Settlement, Thus Requiring Resettlement. Need To Understand Whether Physical Condition Of Resettlement Is In Accordance With Background And Housing Preference Of Victim, Due To Significant Differences Of Housing Design. Aspects Studied Were Characteristic Of Resettlement, Physical Condition Of House And Socio-Economic Mobility. Research Was Done Using Qualitative Method. Technique Of Data Collection Was Used Retrospective Interviews And Observation. This Research Result Indicates That Most Participants Experienced Conformity In House Physical Condition And Socioeconomic Mobility. Reason Of Unconformity Condition Is Housing Facility Which Has Not Meet Housing Standard., Gitanjali Biranga, S V. . Admane, S S. Shinde Jul 2015

Energy efficiency has nowadays become one of the most challenging tasks and this has boosted research on fresh fields, such as Ambient Intelligence. Energy consumption in the housing and tertiary sectors is especially high in developed countries. There is a great potential for energy savings in these sectors. Energy conservation measures are developed for newly constructed buildings and for buildings under restoration. However, to achieve a significant diminution in energy consumption apart from the standard energy-efficiency methods, pioneering technologies should be implemented, including renewable energy. Now, buildings are increasingly anticipated to meet higher and more complex performance requirements. Among these …

The present study attempted to investigate the effect of viscous damper on the performance of 10 and 16-story structures. Data modeling was done based on PERFORM 3D software and energy absorption amount was examined in different modes through viscous dampers. To investigate the effects of the so called dampers on the seismic behavior of the structures, the performance of special moment frames with and without viscous damper with the 20% to 30% Resistance against earthquake damages was considered. Also, hysteresis diagram was studied. The research findings revealed an appropriate effect of viscous dampers on decreasing seismic effects of earthquake such …

This paper is an attempt to describe the major components of drinking water in rural sector and its tariff design. With an integrated approach towards improving Quality of Life (QoL) of rural people, ensuring equity and effective public participation as willingness to pay for water. The pressure of rural development programme has been made a frontal attack on poverty through pricing of drinking water. Therefore, water tariffs should be fixed to make people understand the value of water. Present paper describes various works done till date in this field of research

Measurement of flow is an important aspect in the field of hydraulic engineering, both in case of open channel as well as pipe or conduits. In case of pipe conduits various flow meters are used for flow estimation; out of which venturimeter and orifice meter are most commonly used and conventional means. Pipes or conduit carrying sediment laden flow or slurry-water mixture is very common in most of the industries, sewage carrying system etc. Suitability of flow meters i.e. venturimeter and flow meter need to be analyzed for sediment laden flow. Due to the presence of slurry or sediments, coefficient …

Manganese (Mn) is one of the most abundant metals in Earth’s crust. Manganese is present in ground water as a divalent ion (Mn2+) and is considered a pollutant mainly because of its organoleptic properties. It is an essential metal for the human system and many enzymes are activated by manganese. Therefore, manganese has to be removed from some waters and wastewaters for various reasons. Conventional chemical and physical treatments for Mn(II) removal from contaminated effluent consist of precipitation, depth filtration, ion exchange, adsorption and oxidation. The adsorption technique has been found to be one of the most effective for the …
