"Cyclical simple shear tests were performed on block samples of a remolded clay mixture of 3 parts kaolinite to 1 part of bentonite mixed at 110% water content. The samples had base sizes of 8x8, 4x4, and 2x2 inches square and heights of 1, 2, 4, and 8 inches. The simple shear tests were performed by using a predetermined sinusoidal displacement, at frequencies of 1, 2, and 5 hertz.
