The primary goal of this research is to show how a fully developed driveway database will improve access management practices resulting in a reduction in crashes, injuries, and fatalities on our roadways. The results of this thesis highlight a close relationship between driveway characteristics and the incidence of crashes. Thus, it is critical to be proactive in enforcing access management strategies and policies that are designed to enhance driveway safety without compromising the economic vitality of land use along roads.
