Modelling Of Heat Transfer In An Air Solar Collector, Shakhnoza Abduvaxitovna Sultanova, Jasur Esirgapovich Safarov, A.A. Mambetsheripova

Technical science and innovation

This study is the prediction, depending on time and different geographical and climatic situations, of different operating parameters: solar radiation, ambient and outlet coolant temperature, heat exchange coefficients and losses. All these determine, in the absence of measurements, the efficiency of the system modelled with existing models with respect to these parameters. These models are usually compared with experimental results. Before modelling, it is necessary to investigate the different heat transfer and exchange regimes that exist between the different elements of this system in order to eventually have a system of equations governing this exchange. The modelling principle is to …

This article explores the benefits of transitioning from traditional agricultural irrigation systems to more cost-effective alternatives powered by renewable energy sources. By integrating solar photovoltaic technology into irrigation processes, significant reductions in resource wastage, estimated at 45-50%, are achievable through the implementation of drip irrigation techniques. This results in enhanced agricultural productivity. Moreover, the utilization of solar panels in green zones mitigates surface temperature increases, contributing to a 2-5% boost in electricity production. Currently, irrigation facilities primarily rely on the main energy grid. However, transitioning to renewable energy sources decreases reliance on non-renewable fuels, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and fosters …

Research On An Improved Cotton Cleaner Unit, Muzaffar Djurayev, Sherqul Hakimov, Ilhom Abbazov, Rashid Kaldybaev

Technical science and innovation

This article analyzes the results of changes to the working parts of a cotton cleaning unit from small and large impurities. It is known that the UXK installation uses continuous cleaning technology, that is, the cotton entering the purifier is cleaned in all its cleaning sections and then transferred to another process. In these sections, pieces of cotton wool from the separated waste are regenerated in a separate drum. Existing purifier suppliers use a manually operated mechanical system to monitor its performance. These factors do not make it possible to control the cleaning process when the quality indicators of cotton …

Data were collected over a period of two years in six summer camps. Three separate populations of middle and high school students participated in the summer …

Rattus Norvegicus As A Biological Detector Of Clandestine Remains And The Use Of Ultrasonic Vocalizations As A Locating Mechanism, Gabrielle M. Johnston May 2023

Rattus Norvegicus As A Biological Detector Of Clandestine Remains And The Use Of Ultrasonic Vocalizations As A Locating Mechanism, Gabrielle M. Johnston

Master's Theses

In investigations, locating missing persons and clandestine remains are imperative. One way that first responder and police agencies can search for the remains is by using cadaver dogs as biological detectors. Cadaver dogs are typically used due to their olfactory sensitivity and ability to detect low concentrations of volatile organic compounds produced by biological remains. Cadaver dogs are typically chosen for their stamina, agility, and olfactory sensitivity. However, what is not taken into account often is the size of the animal and the expense of maintaining and training the animal. Cadaver dogs are typically large breeds that cannot fit in …

Trace Dna Detection Using Diamond Dye: A Recovery Technique To Yield More Dna, Leah Davis May 2023

Trace Dna Detection Using Diamond Dye: A Recovery Technique To Yield More Dna, Leah Davis

This study aspires to find a new screening approach to trace DNA recovery techniques to yield a higher quantity of trace DNA from larger items of evidence. It takes the path of visualizing trace DNA on items of evidence with potential DNA so analysts can swab a more localized area rather than attempting to recover trace DNA through the general swabbing technique currently used for trace DNA recovery. The first and second parts consisted of observing trace DNA interaction with Diamond Dye on porous and non-porous surfaces.

The third part involved applying the Diamond Dye solution by spraying it onto …

Algae are capable of sequestering nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates from wastewater in the presence of sunlight and carbon dioxide (CO2) to build up their body mass and help combat climate change. In the current study, we carried out different case studies to estimate the volume of algal biomass that could be produced annually using the rotating algal biofilm (RAB) method in three large-scale water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) in Texas: Fort Worth, Dallas, and Houston. We calculated the total amount of lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins that could be fractionated from the algal biomass while using the …

Selective electrochemical hydrogenation (ECH) of biomass-derived unsaturated organic molecules has enormous potential for sustainable chemical production. However, an efficient catalyst is essential to perform an ECH reaction consisting of superior product selectivity and a higher conversion rate. Here, we examined the ECH performance of reduced metal nanostructures i.e., reduced Ag (rAg) and reduced copper (rCu) prepared via electrochemical or thermal oxidation and electrochemical reduction process, respectively. Surface morphological analysis suggests formation of nanocoral and entangled nanowire structure formation for rAg and rCu catalysts. rCu exhibits slight enhancement in ECH reaction performance in comparison to the pristine Cu. However, the rAg …

Mango Surface Color Features Measurement Using Digital Image Processing, Md Towfiqur Rahman, Goutom Kumar, Md Abdul Momin

Biological Systems Engineering: Papers and Publications

Summary

Postharvest processing of agricultural produce is still done the conventional way in Bangladesh. Manual grading of agricultural produce, especially fruits and vegetables, is laborious and costly due to acute shortage of labor during the peak season, as well as difficulty maintaining the product quality. Machine vision system (MVS) applications are widely used nowadays as a non-destructive and cost-effective technology for automatically grading and sorting large volumes of produce in the packing house according to size, shape, color, texture, and surface defects. In this study, a simple MVS was constructed measuring different color features of mango fruit surface as a …

Percutaneous-Reinforced Osteoplasty: A Review Of Emerging Treatment Strategies For Bone Interventions, Nischal Koirala, Jyotsna Joshi, Stephen F. Duffy, Gordon Mclennan

Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Publications

Percutaneous-reinforced osteoplasty is currently being investigated as a possible therapeutic procedure for fracture stabilization in high-risk patients, primarily in patients with bone metastases or osteoporosis. For these patients, a percutaneous approach, if structurally sound, can provide a viable method for treating bone fractures without the physiologic stress of anesthesia and open surgery. However, the low strength of fixation is a common limitation that requires further refinement in scaffold design and selection of materials, and may potentially benefit from tissue-engineering-based regenerative approaches. Scaffolds that have tissue regenerative properties and low inflammatory response promote rapid healing at the fracture site and are …
