Rare earth elements (REEs) are a group of 15 elements in the lanthanide series along with scandium and yttrium. They are often grouped together because of their similar chemical properties. As a result of their increased application in advanced technologies and electronics including electric vehicles, the demand of REEs and other critical elements has increased in recent decades and is expected to significantly grow over the next decade.
