An Analysis Of The Impacts Of Temperature Segregation On Hot Mix Asphalt, Thaddaeus A. Bode
An Analysis Of The Impacts Of Temperature Segregation On Hot Mix Asphalt, Thaddaeus A. Bode
Department of Construction Engineering and Management: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
This research was conducted to produce a more realistic picture of how variables are created and dealt with during hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving construction. Several paving projects across the State of Nebraska have been visited where sensing devices were used to test how the selected variables contribute to temperature differentials. These variables include density, moisture content within the asphalt, material surface temperature, internal temperature, wind speed, haul time, and equipment type. Areas of high temperature differentials are identified using an infrared camera whose usefulness was initially confirmed with a penetrating thermometer. A non-nuclear density device was also used to …
Propagation Of Ultrasound Through Freshly Excised Human Calvarium, Armando Garcia Noguera
Propagation Of Ultrasound Through Freshly Excised Human Calvarium, Armando Garcia Noguera
Department of Engineering Mechanics: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
The propagation of ultrasound through complex biological media, such as the human calvarium, poses a great challenge for modern medicine. Several ultrasonic techniques commonly used for treatment and diagnosis in most of the human body are still difficult to apply to the human brain, in part, because of the properties of the skull. Moreover, an understanding of the biomechanics of transcranial ultrasound may provide needed insight into the problem of blast wave induced traumatic brain injury (TBI). In the present study, the spatial variability of ultrasonic properties was evaluated for relevant frequencies of 0.5, 1, and 2.25 MHz. A total …
Densities Of Vegetable Oils And Fatty Acids, Hossein Noureddini, B C. Teoh, L Davis Clements
Densities Of Vegetable Oils And Fatty Acids, Hossein Noureddini, B C. Teoh, L Davis Clements
Papers in Biomaterials
Complete data for density as a function of temperature have been measured for a number of vegetable oils (cramhe, rapeseed, corn, soybean, milkweed, coconut, lesquerella), as well as eight fatty acids in the range CS to C,, at temperatures from above their melting points to llQ°C (23Q°F). The specific gravity and density measure mente were performed according to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard test methods D 368, D 891 and D 1298 for hydrometers and a modified ASTM D 369 and D 891 for pycnometers. Correlation constants, based on the experimental data, are presented for calculating the …
