The water molds, aquatic members of the fungi known as phycomycetes, are a richly varied group of organisms. Simple in structure, their life histories are truly amazing, often belying this simplicity.

Some Trends In College Physics And Their Reflections On High School Physics, J. E. Kasper, L. D. Flansburg Jan 1967

Some Trends In College Physics And Their Reflections On High School Physics, J. E. Kasper, L. D. Flansburg

Iowa Science Teachers Journal

We are much struck with the desirable results that follow from introducing brief discussions of modern physics topics during the course of ordinary, relatively routine first courses in physics for college freshmen and sophomores. We propose in this paper that teachers of secondary physics courses might well also consider the incorporation of such discussions into their courses.

Union Slough - An Outdoor Classroom, Mary Rosaire Heinowski Jan 1967

Union Slough - An Outdoor Classroom, Mary Rosaire Heinowski

Iowa Science Teachers Journal

Biology teachers frequently can make use of community resources to develop nature appreciation and stress its recreational value. In Kossuth County, Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge gives the schools in the vicinity an excellent opportunity to do this if used as an outdoor classroom.

Higher Education In 1980, Richard M. Harbeck

Iowa Science Teachers Journal

Any reasonable prediction of future changes in higher education must necessarily be based on observations and interpretations of what is taking place today in society in general and in education in particular. The following observations provide some of the rationale for points to be made later.

Testing Frequency And Junior High Students, Lynn W. Glass Jan 1967

Testing Frequency And Junior High Students, Lynn W. Glass

Iowa Science Teachers Journal

As a matter of habit I have always given a twelve to fifteen question quiz to my junior high life science students every five to seven classroom days. This was always done on the untested assumption that a more frequent test versus a test given after three to four weeks of study would tend to motivate the student, serve as a learning device, and lessen the amount of cramming and test anxiety experienced by the student.
