The state of Kansas encourages high school students to earn college credit while still in high school. This presentation describes a dual credit program in college algebra used by JCCC, in which the college retains control of the curriculum, testing, and grading, while the high school provides the instruction.

Independent study is becoming more popular among students, and more schools are creating programs to meet the demand. The self-paced math program at Johnson County Community College had been operational since the mid-1980s, but has experienced fantastic growth beginning in about 2000. This presentation describes the current program from the viewpoints of students, faculty, and managers.
