Causes Of Low Enrollment Of Black Students In Upper-Level Science Courses, Henry L. Jenkins
Causes Of Low Enrollment Of Black Students In Upper-Level Science Courses, Henry L. Jenkins
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
For approximately seven years, the number of Black students enrolled in upper-level science courses (e.g., Chemistry, Human Physiology, Physics) is proportionately lower than the number of non-Black students a.t Palatka South High School, Palatka, Florida.
On the surface, this low enrollment appears to coincide with the fact that there are more non-Black students than Black students enrolled in the school. However, if one were to examine closely the total number of Black students enrolled in upperlevel science courses from the school's total Black student population enrolled in science classes, and compare it to the school's total non-Black population enrolled in …
Language Problems And Aboriginal Education, Ed Brumby (Ed.)
Language Problems And Aboriginal Education, Ed Brumby (Ed.)
Research outputs pre 2011
Effective communication must be an essential feature of any teaching/ .learning situation and it follows that considerable difficulties arise when teacher and learner speak different and mutually unintelligible languages or dialects. This, unfortunately, is the situation in which many, if not most, Aboriginal children and their teachers throughout Australia find themselves. This classroom situation reflects, of course, the difficulties and frustrations experienced on a wider scale by many Aboriginal parents and Aboriginal communities, and those outsiders who work with them. The problem is compounded further by the fact that few teachers or others who work in Aboriginal areas are given …
Features Of Serbo-Croatian For Language Teachers, Eric G. Vaszolyi
Features Of Serbo-Croatian For Language Teachers, Eric G. Vaszolyi
Research outputs pre 2011
Teachers of migrant children experience a great many difficulties in trying to understand and resolve their pupils' language problems. One basic problem is all too familiar: the teacher speaks English and the migrant child does not understand it or only understands it to some, rather limited, extent. Another problem area: the pupil picks up some English in the classroom, on the playground and out in the street but speaks it with a peculiar accent and peppers it with phonemic, grammatical and semantic errors. The child's deviations from the generally accepted patterns of English (i.e. the prevalent variety of English spoken …

Students from Churchlands College of Advanced Education were involved in the development of the drama, and in planning and conducting preparatory experiences for and with the children.

Sex Roles, Career Aspirations, Child Care Expectations, And Birth Intentions Of Selected College Freshmen, Pamila Joan Fisher
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Decisions regarding careers, marriage, children and the care of children are sufficiently complex to warrant a genuine dilemma for some college students. The purpose of this study was to investigate the birth intentions of male and female college freshmen and the relationships of those intentions to sex roles, career aspirations and preferences for various child care options.
Relevant demographic and personal data were obtained from a questionnaire which also included the set of items from Dr. John Scanzoni's sex role scale. The questionnaire was administered to a total of 715 randomly selected college freshmen from three California institutions: a community …
