Technical Oral Presentation Delivery: Qualitative Analysis Of Engineering Undergraduates’ Impediments To Effective Oral Presentations In An Engineering Context, Abdelmadjid Benraghda, Noor Raha Radzuan, Zuraina Ali
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Engineering undergraduates are expected to deliver technical oral presentations on various occasions particularly in university subjects. Engineering undergraduates struggle when they are assigned to deliver technical oral presentations and often they have impediments to deliver oral presentations at tertiary level. The paper reveals prime findings on the technical oral presentation’s impediments faced by the engineering undergraduates in delivering effective presentations. A semi-structured interview was conducted by 12 engineering undergraduates from various engineering faculties in Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia. Findings of the study revealed that the engineering undergraduates encountered impediments such as when delivering technical oral presentations particularly in terms of …

Effect Of Flipped Classroom On Learning Management Systems And Face-To-Face Learning Environments On Students' Gender, Interest And Achievement In Accounting, Ernest O. Ugwoke, Nathaniel Ifeanyi Edeh, Joseph C. Ezemma
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
There are several factors that influence students learning and academic achievement. Some of the factors include motivation, interest, learning environment, level of student-student, teacher-student interaction and collaboration nature of assessment processes and feedback etc. However, literature has revealed that students’ interest and academic achievement can be improved if modern technology is integrated into teaching and learning process. The major purpose of this study is to determine the effects of flipped classroom model on learning management systems (LMS) and f2f learning environments on students' achievement and interest in accounting. The design of the study is quasi-experimental. The study used intact classes …

Examining Internet Usage Patterns On Socio-Economic Benefits Of Marginalised Communities: The Case Of Community Information Centres In Ghana, Stephen Bekoe, Kodjo Atiso, Daniel Azerikatoa Ayoung, Lucy Dzandu, Kennedy Kubuga Kumangkem
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
In this paper, we explore the socio-economic effects of internet use at the community information centres (CICs) on livelihoods in three regions of Ghana. Sustainable livelihood framework was used as a lens to understand the phenomena being studied. Primary and secondary data collection methods were used. Three CICs in three regions were purposively selected and qualitative research method was adopted for the study. The data were analysed using Nvivo. The findings showed that sending email information was largely the reason why people used the Internet. We found that through the Internet, people learn, develop new business ideas and expand the …

Students’ Perceived Influence Of Library Services In Secondary Schools In Kwara State, Nigeria., Yusuf Suleiman, Zahyah Hanafi, Thanslikan Muhajir 4508666
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
It is often said that students’ effective learning cannot be acquired through classrooms activities alone, they refer to school library information resources to complement what they have been taught. In view of the foregoing, this study examines students’ perceived influence of library services in secondary schools in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study population consists of 27,883 students in secondary schools (public and private). Multistage and systematic random sampling techniques were used to select 378 students across the 16 local governments drawn from the three senatorial districts that formed the state. An instrument titled “School Library Questionnaire (SLQ)” was used to …

New Hire Training For Development Employees, Frances Pickles
Instructional Design Capstones Collection
Children’s Cancer Charity employs development staff members in field offices across the country. These new hires require a specialized training for their role within the organization. The existing new hire training consists of a sales training and a week-long training held quarterly at the Executive Office. The current training lacks a foundational understanding of the various fundraising programs that exist at CCC and the training on the soft skills required to be successful in a development role. Two training series were designed to meet the needs of development new hires: Fundraising Program Training and Business Skills Training. The program training …

Health and Kinesiology Faculty Publications
Little is known about vascular mitochondrial respiratory function and the impact of age. Therefore, skeletal muscle feed arteries were harvested from young (33 ± 7 yr, n = 10), middle-aged (54 ± 5 yr, n = 10), and old (70 ± 7 yr, n = 10) subjects, and mitochondrial respiration as well as citrate synthase (CS) activity were assessed. Complex I (CI) and complex I + II (CI+II) state 3 respiration were greater in young (CI: 10.4 ± 0.8 pmol·s−1·mg−1 and CI+II: 12.4 ± 0.8 pmol·s−1·mg−1, P < 0.05) than middle-aged (CI: 7 ± 0.6 pmol·s−1·mg−1 and CI+II: 8.3 ± 0.5 pmol·s−1·mg−1) and old (CI: 7.2 ± 0.4 pmol·s−1·mg−1 and CI+II: 7.6 ± 0.5 pmol·s−1·mg−1) subjects and, as in the case of complex II (CII) state 3 respiration, were inversely correlated with age [r = −0.56 (CI), r = −0.7 (CI+II), and r = 0.4 (CII), …

The Paradox Of Post-Postmodernism, Seungho Moon
The Paradox Of Post-Postmodernism, Seungho Moon
Education: School of Education Faculty Publications and Other Works
Educators live in a paradoxical space of Tao and wuwei: Tao is not Tao once it is labeled. Post- postmodernism resides in this unknown space—space where multiple, unknown angles exist in creating us-ness (which is never a uniformed, exclusive format of it). Indeed, a paradox is and is not post-postmodern.
