This study aims to produce a problem-based learning module on trigonometry oriented towards the ability to understand concepts for grade X high school students and to describe the quality of the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the module. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Case-Based Learning (CBL) are two typical learning approaches that involve problem-solving activities, likely to encourage students' mathematical connection abilities. This study aimed to describe the differences in mathematical connection ability between students studying with the PBL and those who used the CBL approach. A quasi-experiment with a pretest-post-test non-equivalent group design was conducted for the purpose. The data collection method was non-routine problems about mathematical connections. The data was analyzed using inferential statistics. Transforming curriculum by implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the college-level classroom helps students internalize the concepts of a course, improve their critical and reflective thinking skills, learn to problem-solve using questioning, and ultimately construct a better understanding of course concepts in a personally relevant way. Predictors of teacher effectiveness in relation to student achievement are based on the ability to use a range of evidence-based teaching strategies. Australia’s Teacher Education Ministerial Advisory Group (TEMAG) report that some tertiary providers working with pre-service teachers (PSTs) are using pedagogical practices which are not informed by established research. This paper reports on the impact a student-centred, PBL teaching approach had on third-year Bachelor of Education PSTs’ PCK in a mathematics education subject, compared to a similar group taught using a conventional teacher-directed approach. The Effectiveness Of The Problem-Based Learning Model Using Peer Assessment In Vocational High School, Aulia Anggraini, Sudiyanto Sudiyanto, Cicilia Dyah Sulistyaningrum Indrawati

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the effect between the Problem-Based Learning model using Peer assessment and the Problem-Based Learning model on student competencies. The study used a quantitative experimental approach at SMK Negeri 1 Sragen in class XI AK 4 as a control class and XI AK 5 as an experimental class. The population involved all XI Accounting class students totaling 160 students, while the sample consisted of 64 students divided into the experimental class and the control class. The results showed that the first hypothesis obtained Fcount data>Ftable or 5.214> 2.760 and sig values. 0.026 <0.05, then Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. Learning using the Problem-Based Learning model with Peer Assessment has an average value of 83.78, higher than the average value of the Problem-Based Learning model that is equal to 81.53. This study concludes that there are differences in the effect between the control class and the experimental class on student competence. The experimental class using the Problem-Based Learning Model using Peer Assessment is more effective than the control class using the Problem-Based Learning model.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Quasi Experimental dengan populasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ngadirejo Temanggung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. How does a lie spread through a community? The purpose of this paper is two-fold: to provide an educational tool for teaching Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) and sensitivity analysis through a culturally relevant topic (fake news), and to examine the social justice implications of misinformation. Under the assumption that people are susceptible to, can be infected with, and recover from a lie, we model the spread of false information with the classic Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) model. We develop a system of ODEs with lie-dependent parameter values to examine the pervasiveness of a lie through a community.

Most of the previous problem-based learning (PBL) studies have been conducted with gifted or regular education students and have shown successes. However, little research on PBL exists for disadvantaged middle school students, especially students who are considered to be at risk of failing academically. In this study, we examined the use of a multimedia-enriched PBL science environment by at-risk middle school students. The results, using a mixed-methods design, showed that these students significantly improved their science knowledge and attitude toward science after they engaged in PBL learning. This study aims to explore the effects of argumentation with the concept map method during medical problem-based learning (PBL) on individual clinical reasoning. Individual clinical reasoning ability was assessed through problem-solving performance and arguments that students constructed during individual clinical reasoning processes. Toulmin’s model of argument was utilized as a structure for arguments. The study also explored whether there would be any differences between the firstand second-year medical students. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah, dan perbandingan keefektifan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah ditinjau dari sikap percaya diri, pencapaian belajar matematika, dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah. With the inclusion of engineering disciplinary core ideas (DCIs), the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) position engineering as a new priority in K–12 science classrooms. This paper reports findings from the implementation of SLIDER, a problem-based learning 8th grade physical science curriculum that integrates engineering and physical science core ideas. As a culminating engineering design challenge, the SLIDER curriculum asks students to apply their understanding of energy, motion, and forces to design an automatic braking system for a robotic truck. The aim of the study was to investigate how physiotherapy students using a problem-based learning approach develop into experts during higher education, and answers the question: How do physiotherapy students at bachelor’s level understand the problem-based learning approach while learning to become professionals? PBL is examined using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) of longitudinal data written by 15 voluntary students from two different higher education institutions and collected during 3.5 years.
