Faced with the need for providing a listening program without the assistance of an available curriculum guide in junior high school music for the Reynolds School District No. 7, it was the purpose of this writer to construct a design for a program of instruction in music listening. The suggested design is based upon an examination of literature related to listening and is illustrated by sample materials provided in the appendices.

This study developed and tested the success of a developmental, sequential series of study units to teach skills useful in the library. It was the purpose of this study to systematically gather data based on actual classroom episodes, which would verify or deny previous findings. More specifically, the purpose was to evaluate questions asked by a fifth-sixth-grade class through a pre-determined classification, to show the relationship between questioning and the following measures: achievement, intelligence, personality, and sociometric measures, and to determine if age or sex is a relative factor in question asking.

It was the purpose of this study to produce eight millimeter (8mm) cartridge films to illustrate for the beginning instrumentalist the proper procedures to follow in caring for his instrument. The study endeavored to prove that 8mm cartridge films provide a valuable means of individualizing instruction in instrumental music. For the purpose of this study, six cartridge films and study guides were produced. This series was then evaluated by a panel of instrumental music teachers.
