Physical appearance-related social anxieties have been identified as feelings individuals experience in general and in different social situations based on their outward appearance. Two instruments have been used to assess the construct of social anxiety, the social physique anxiety scale (SPAS) and the social appearance anxiety scale (SAAS). This cross-sectional study implemented a non-experimental design with randomization of the total sample (n=1214) into three equal groups. Students with disabilities as a group remain behind in academic achievement when compared to students without disabilities. Without the right school-based interventions, many students with disabilities will experience academic failure, disciplinary infractions, social isolation, self-doubt, school disengagement, and school dropout. Additionally, social-emotional intervention helps older students to improve executive functioning, develop self-regulation skills, and score better on achievement tests than the students not receiving any social-emotional programming. Moreover, students enrolled in schools that implement evidence-based educational interventions to facilitate students’ social-emotional competencies demonstrate more positive behaviors and social-emotional interactions. The focus of this study was to measure elementary, middle, and high school administrators’ beliefs regarding the appropriateness of the Mississippi Statewide Teacher Appraisal Rubric domains, as well as their perceptions regarding the Mississippi Statewide Teacher Appraisal Rubric’s overall alignment with the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium standards. This was a quantitative study that investigated whether a statistically significant difference existed between administrators’ beliefs regarding the appropriateness based on their grade level assignment. The photographs of Ed Westcott, a civilian hired to document the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, are a valuable educational resource for school children as well as scholars. During the war years, Westcott was the official government documentarian of the construction and operation of Oak Ridge as well as photojournalist for the local newspaper. His photographs, which are a cultural and historical record of that unique time and place, have been published in numerous books on the history of the Manhattan Project. This study is based on historical documentation as well as a lecture by and interviews with Westcott.

This dissertation examined the relationship between students attending a writing center and the change in students’ writing performance over the course of a semester. The study also sought to determine whether demographics (age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, and whether a student is a first-generation college student) were related to students’ change in writing after they attended a college writing center.

However, whereas the use of test-based accountability has expanded, the understanding of the statistical methodologies used in accountability systems has not kept pace. Currently, Student Growth Percentiles and value-added modeling are the most prevalent methodologies for estimating annual student growth. Each of these methodologies is regression-based and relies on scale scores from standardized assessments.
