Recent accounting and corporate scandals call into question the ethicality of accounting practice, likewise accounting graduates. Advances in ethical accounting education are not emphasized in today’s business schools leaving accounting graduates lacking necessary ethical accounting competencies to make ethical accounting decisions (Abend, 2013; Mastracchio, Jiménez-Angueira, & Toth, 2015; Waples, Antes, Murphy, Connelly, & Mumford, 2009).

Literacy is a key component to success in school and in life. Literacy has been a focus of education since 1965 when President Jimmy Carter announced a “war on poverty.” Since then, history has shown that educators should place an emphasis on literacy within schools. Because literacy is so important, I set out to explore how administrators influence literacy through the promotion and selection of professional development.

The focus of this study was to measure elementary, middle, and high school administrators’ beliefs regarding the appropriateness of the Mississippi Statewide Teacher Appraisal Rubric domains, as well as their perceptions regarding the Mississippi Statewide Teacher Appraisal Rubric’s overall alignment with the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium standards. This was a quantitative study that investigated whether a statistically significant difference existed between administrators’ beliefs regarding the appropriateness based on their grade level assignment. A 48-statement questionnaire was developed using the current Mississippi Statewide Teacher Appraisal Rubric domains and standards to obtain the quantitative data. The Manhattan Project At Oak Ridge: Photographs Of Ed Westcott, 1942-46, Teresa S. Welsh

The photographs of Ed Westcott, a civilian hired to document the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, are a valuable educational resource for school children as well as scholars. During the war years, Westcott was the official government documentarian of the construction and operation of Oak Ridge as well as photojournalist for the local newspaper. His photographs, which are a cultural and historical record of that unique time and place, have been published in numerous books on the history of the Manhattan Project. This study is based on historical documentation as well as a lecture by and interviews with Westcott.
