The aim of the investigation was to obtain some indication of the average length of service of teachers employed by the State Education Departments. The method used was to ascertain the age on retirement, the length of service, and the cause of retirement of each teacher who ceased to be employed by the various Departments during the years 1928, 1929 and 1930. The back of the book has space for recording the progress of each student over time. This guidebook in particular was utilized between 1909 and 1911, in central Arkansas County, Arkansas.
