Theses and Dissertations
Scale development in psychological studies is an area of intense growth (Clark & Watson, 1995). This report builds upon academic interest in the value of producing viable measurement tools. The areas of interest were four self-regulatory skill domains: strategy use, planning, monitoring, and evaluating in two music environments: independent practicing and performance.
This report describes the development and analysis of the Self-efficacy for Musical Studies (SEMS) scale. The report includes statistical analysis of the response data from formative …

Changes In Student Teachers' Perceptions Of Stress During The Student Teaching Semester, Connie L. Schaffer
Changes In Student Teachers' Perceptions Of Stress During The Student Teaching Semester, Connie L. Schaffer
Student Work
The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in the perceptions of stress during the student teaching semester. The pervasive theory regarding the changing stress of student teachers was developed by Fuller (1969). Fuller's developmental conceptualization theory involved three stages of concern or stress: (1) pre-teaching, non-concerns, (2) early-teaching phase, self-concerns and task concerns, and (3) late concerns, impact concerns. This study examined self-concerns, task concerns, and impact concerns and expanded the Fuller (1969) model to also include personal and career concerns.

“Compelled To Connect: A Phenomenological Study Of The Experience Of Writing, Shannon D. Collins
Doctoral Dissertations
Writing is frequently referred to as a process. Writing, in fact, is a series of complicated acts involving many processes, most of which take place in the writer’s mind and, thus, remain hidden from the lens of the researcher. The purpose of this research was to describe the first-person experience of writing through use of a phenomenological method involving dialogic interviews and hermeneutic interpretation. In the course of this investigation, 10 practicing writers (6 men and 4 women) were engaged in open-ended dialogue in which they described various personal experiences of writing. The participants were a business owner, a physician, …

Between the summer of 1862 and the fall of 1863, tens of thousands of Confederate soldiers camped upon the hills and valleys near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Many of those men would write home of the sites and events they experienced. What follows are several letters that were recently found in the Auburn University archives located in the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.
