The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to describe the experiences of high school graduates who persisted to post-graduation success (PGS) after attending an all-male middle school boarding program (MSBP) for low-income students (LISs) in an urban community in the southeastern United States. The theory that guided this study was invitational theory by Purkey as it explains the relationship between the entire culture within the school. This study is important because schools around the world spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on one-to-one technology integration in the classroom. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological research study was to understand North Carolina private high school educators’ perceptions of the implementation of a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program as a lived experience. This research study utilized the theoretical lenses of the technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) model and the technology acceptance model (TAM) frameworks to determine the perceptions of each educator participating in this research study in relation to BYOD integration into their classroom settings. The purpose of this quantitative correlational research study is to determine if perceived teacher support predicts school burnout in male high school students. High school males from four private high schools in eastern North Carolina and southeast Virginia participated in the study. The predictor variables were overall perceived teacher support, as well as four subcategories (i.e., invested, positive regard, expectations, and accessible) of perceived teacher support. Data was collected by utilizing student surveys to measure each of the variables. The Teacher Support Scale measured perceived teacher support, and the School Burnout Inventory measured school burnout among the high school males. …

The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand high-achieving Hispanic and Black high school students’ experiences with honors and advanced placement (AP) courses in a Georgia private high school. The participants for this study were 11 high-achieving Hispanic and Black high school students as defined by a 3.0 or higher, grade point average (GPA) and enrollment in at least one advanced placement or honors course. Focus group interviews, individual participant interviews, and student journals were used as data collection methods. The purpose of this qualitative transcendental phenomenological study sought to describe experiences of Christian high school teachers motivating students in the Pacific Northwest to be autonomous learners, competent in skills and achievements, and relationally balanced within a Christian environment. The literature indicates two phenomena exist. First, student motivation decreases as they progress; and second, a gap exists in the literature related to Christian schoolteachers’ experiences motivating students. The purpose of this qualitative transcendental phenomenological study was to seek understanding as to the impact of an established 1:1 technology program on the educational experiences of high school students. The theories guiding this study were constructivism, based on the works of Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget, and connectivism, based on the work of George Siemens. The purpose of this single case study was to examine the implementation of remediation programs in a rural public high school in Virginia. The theories that guided this study were Bandura’s (1997) social cognitive theory and self-efficacy theory as well as Dweck’s mindset theory as both theorists helped in identifying teachers’ beliefs in their ability to successfully implement remediation programs at the high school level. Dramatic reduction in dropouts is generally defined by having reduced the school’s dropout rate by at least 50% in less than three years. This case study sought to answer the question of how these student-athletes cope with their return to the classroom and are affected academically, physically, socially, and emotionally from multiple perspectives. The purpose of this systematic grounded theory study is to explain the process that teachers experience to transform their mindset regarding student intelligence from fixed towards growth, including effective transformation approaches and obstacles. This study focuses on the transformation experiences of 14 teachers in grades 9-12 from schools in the Midwest region of the United States. This non-experimental regression study examined the relationship between six motivational factors and academic performance for male high school student-athletes. Research has shown motivation in athletics can have an effect on academic achievement. The study was conducted at six public high schools in the northeast region of South Carolina. The revised Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-II) was the survey instrument used to collect athletic motivational levels of the 10th-12th grade high school male student-athletes (n=140).
