THE PROBLEM
The purposes of this study were (1) to project the enrollments and resulting student credit hours produced for each institution of higher education in West Virginia between 1963 and 1975 and (2), based on enrollments and other factors, to project the operating budget needs for each institution between 1963 and 1975.
Projections were made for each of the twenty institutions of higher education in West Virginia and for state higher education as a whole. Primary importance of the findings was in the application by each institution in long-range institutional research and planning.

The purpose of this study was not to determine all those attitudes which affect a student’s decision to remain in or leave the college. It was rather to survey the attitudes and opinions of the members of a group which had already left the college before completion of their studies insofar as Central Washington College was concerned. Three factors were determined on the basis of their proximity to the lives of the students and their concomitant effect on the attitudes of those students.

Differences in opinion [arise] regarding the comparative quality of academic performance of students enrolled in residence and those in extension. However, no objective study has yet been made at the University of New Mexico comparing the academic performances of students in extension with that made by resident students, hence those differences of opinion have not been reconciled.
