The purpose of this research and study was to evaluate the use of selected Book of Mormon filmstrips and determine their value in teaching Book of Mormon history. New impetus to use filmstrips was received with the announcement that the Department of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion had produced eighteen filmstrips using episodes from Book of Mormon history. The Department was desirous that the filmstrips be utilized in the most effective way by teachers in meeting the individual needs of students in this course of religious instruction.

The purpose of this study was to investigate concept development as it relates to the teaching of mathematics in the kindergarten, and to propose a program of activities to be used in developing mathematical concepts with kindergarten children. Basic to determining the strategy to be used in teaching children is a consideration of the background of information the children possess when the teaching begins, and the background of information and the attitudes of the teachers who teach. The purpose of this study is to determine whether second grade children from a low socio-economic area, taught with the use of flat pictures and the interpretation of such pictures to build vicarious experiences in the social studies program in correlation with other subject areas, will achieve as well as, or better than, second grade children from the same economic area who will be taught without such an abundant use of flat pictures.

A Study Assessing Changes Occurring In Kindergarten Children At Central School, Hoquiam, Washington, During The School Year 1967-1968 In Terms Of Readiness And Academic Growth, Elizabeth Pinkley Morris

A group of fifty-one kindergarten children (23 boys and 28 girls) from Central School in Hoquiam, Washington, were studied for the purpose of evaluating changes occurring during the school year in terms of readiness and academic growth. A series of tests were given in October and November as an inventory of the child's background of skills and readiness in the fall, and the tests were repeated in May to measure any change occurring during the school year.
