The Hazel Green Academy Revitalization Project is a community service-based project focused on restoring and repurposing the Hazel Green Academy (HGA). Established in 1880, HGA was a residential college-preparatory school located in Eastern Wolfe County, KY. At its height, HGA served not only as a school but also as a source of education and community events. Throughout the years, the academy expanded its facilities and resources to benefit both the students and the community. The world faces many environmental problems that can be linked to human activity, including links to the production of food. The meat industry is often seen as a major contributor to such problems. Meat alternatives are often proposed as a way to address these environmental problems. However, these products face barriers when it comes to their adoption by consumers, and firms that produce meat alternatives must overcome these barriers to be successful. Over the course of several weeks, I conducted a series of observations at Indah Coffee Co. in order to better understand its marketing and interaction with the neighborhood. After observing the coffee shop several times, I consulted outside sources, a process that is considered to be in the psychological realm of “grounded theory”, constantly comparing them to my own observations.
