Nonprofit Organisations And Social Entrepreneurship Intentions, Wee Liang Tan Aug 2012

Nonprofit Organisations And Social Entrepreneurship Intentions, Wee Liang Tan

Wee Liang TAN

Nonprofit organizations are valued because they provide services that address unmet needs. Non-profit organizations who engage in social entrepreneurship augment their contributions through the new services, programs, enterprises and revenue generated. It is not surprising, therefore, for policy makers to encourage social entrepreneurship, social innovations and social enterprises. Such an initia-tive was introduced in Singapore recently. However, not all nonprofit organizations seek to innovate or create social enterprises. They may continue to devote themselves to their specific fields and exist-ing practices. Entrepreneurship research suggests that under certain conditions, organizations engage in entrepreneurship through new ventures, projects, and innovations. Hence, it …

Learning To Co-Create The Solutions We Seek: The Art Of Hosting A Nonprofit Organization, Jeannel E. King

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

The Art of Hosting is an emergent leadership model that compliments rapidly changing business needs and environments. This paper presents grounded theory on Art of Hosting components, including the Four Fold Invitation, Hobbit Tools, Five Diamonds of Participation, and Harvesting. An in-depth case study describes the use of Hosting architecture as the design for a nonprofit organization. While the Art of Hosting is effective for involving the community in discussions to co-create solutions to difficult problems, the practice does not easily facilitate a transition from discussion to action. As a framework for operating a nonprofit organization, further research is necessary …

A Risk/Cost Framework For Logistics Policy Evaluation: Hazardous Waste Management, Kimberly Hollister

Department of Information Management and Business Analytics Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

The management of hazardous waste disposal operations is extremely complex involving a multitude of environmental, engineering, economic, social and political concerns. This article proposes a framework to assist policy makers in the evaluation of logistic policies. A spatial general equilibrium based policy evaluation model is developed to calculate risk, cost, and risk equity tradeoff curves.
