The Unintended Effects Of Tamper-Evident Packaging, Marissa Orlowski, Sarah Lefebvre, Laura Boman
The Unintended Effects Of Tamper-Evident Packaging, Marissa Orlowski, Sarah Lefebvre, Laura Boman
Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2022
Third-party food delivery (TPFD) services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub introduces increased opportunities for contamination through the introduction of unknown variables between the restaurant and consumer. Across two studies, we examine the effect of tamper-evident food packaging closures in a TPFD context, revealing a negative effect of a tamper-evident seal on willingness to pay through decreased satisfaction. This negative effect is robust across both food and beverages. Finally, consumers’ perception of risk of illness (PRI) from TPFD moderates this effect.

While the print industry is facing a changing atmosphere, one thing is as sure as death and taxes— there will always be a market for print within the packaging industry. There is a growing market within the craft beer industry, and with that comes competition for each brewery. Many breweries are finding it difficult to use their beer’s first point of sale, the packaging, to their advantage when attracting consumers to their product. The purpose of this research is to provide the reader with knowledge and insight into package design, with special emphasis on designing for current trends and for …

Consumer Perception Of Tactile Packaging: A Research Study On Preferences Of Soft Touch And Hi Rise Coatings In Cosmetic Packaging, Malcolm G. Keif Ph.D., Colleen Twomey, Andrea Stoneman
Journal of Applied Packaging Research
A choice-based conjoint study was conducted sampling 400 individuals to determine their preference for Soft Touch and raised tactile coatings, which are sometimes called Hi Rise or profile coatings. Soft Touch coatings have a velvety, warm feel to them, and Hi Rise coatings simulate embossing with a glossy appearance to them. Both are considered tactile coatings, engaging the sense of touch.
Demographic profile data, level of agreement about statements related to cosmetic packaging and packaging choice set selections were collected. The conjoint sets contained three attributes: design color, tactile coatings, and price.
Design choice was split. Approximately half of the …

The iFixit company has established itself as a leader in providing quality replacement components, tools, and repair instruction for customers who wish to repair their own modern electronic devices. iFixit approached the students at Cal Poly to develop a solution for differentiating their primarily online business into a retail sales environment.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of different levels of environmental information on key consumer metrics. More specifically, it aims to evaluate environmentally benign products against those that have negative environmental impacts.
