Efficiency Measurement On The Effectiveness Of Train And Wagon Maintenance: A Data Envelopment Analysis Perspective, Ramdan Mustakim, Hidajat Hendarsjah

The South East Asian Journal of Management

Research Aims: This research aimed to analyse the efficiency measurement on the effectiveness of train and wagon maintenance in three Decision Making Units (DMU) of Balai Yasa of Indonesian Railways Company (KAI). It focused on both output and input orientations and the effectiveness of production. Design: The research methodology was descriptive and quantitative, employing data envelopment analysis (DEA) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The input variables were maintenance costs, spare parts inventory and people operating hours, while the output variable was OEE. A stepwise approach with backward method steps was used to examine the relationship between effectiveness and efficiency. Findings: …

Assessing Organizational Effectiveness Through The Competing Values Framework A Data Envelopment Approach, Raghavender Macherla Apr 2014

Assessing Organizational Effectiveness Through The Competing Values Framework A Data Envelopment Approach, Raghavender Macherla

Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Theses & Dissertations

This study proposes a model to diagnose organizations using the mathematical principles of data envelopment analysis (DEA) to the variables generated using competing values framework (CVF) in order to evaluate overall organizational effectiveness. The notion of organizational effectiveness is abstract and difficult to measure due to its complexity and multi-functional nature. Over the years, measurement of organizational effectiveness has remained a challenge due to the lack of agreement on the factors that should be assessed to determine effectiveness. This research is aimed at shedding some light into this topic by using data envelopment analysis as a tool to measure relative …

Sustainability Strategies In Supply Chain Management, Amit Arora

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Managers no longer view sustainability of organizations only in terms of profitability and economic growth of shareholders. Various competitive pressures are forcing managers to broaden the scope of sustainability to include explicit environmental and societal objectives too. These pressures are emanating from various sources such as depleting natural resources, regulatory policies from governments, erratic weather cycles, demanding customers and brand damage due to exposure about poor working conditions in supplier factories located in other countries. This dissertation consists of three essays that contribute to the practice and literature of strategic sustainable supply chain management by examining its four aspects: measure, …

Evaluation Of Airport Operating Efficiencies Using Data Envelopment Analysis, Scott Andrew Cummings Apr 1998

Evaluation Of Airport Operating Efficiencies Using Data Envelopment Analysis, Scott Andrew Cummings

Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Theses & Dissertations

Airport congestion represents a serious obstacle to the future growth of the air transportation industry in the United States. Future development of new airports, and expansion of existing ones is required to meet the growing demands in domestic and commercial air travel. Globalization of economies and international travel has placed additional burdens on airports nationwide. This growth is requiring airports to operate at peak efficiencies. Economic growth of surrounding industries is dependent on the airport that services that geographical region. The variations in functions that airports offer, and therefore the differences in operations, do not lend themselves to traditional efficiency …
