Staff development is one of the pillars of organisational advancement. A welltrained employee has the capacity to increase the organisational output and improve his/her individual social capacity. The conventional method of staff development trains each tier of decision-makers for their particular skill needs. The problem with this model is that capital gain and financial results might be the only mutual outcome of these training. The main purpose of this study is to explore the training demands of the employees working at the international five-star hotel in Taipei. The study is based on the questionnaire to those who work at four Taipei’s international hotels and their departments, such as Front Desk Department, Food & Beverage Department and Room Department, are frequently interactive with their customers.

In 1999, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) has developed a Hong Kong focused Management Competency Model and a Development Centre which aimed to improve the organisation’s capability to develop managers for general management roles. The project began with the development of the Management Competency Model which formed the foundation of the Development Centre. The research process included surveys and focus group meetings. The Management Competency Model comprised 31 competencies grouped under 8 clusters. In response to the growing complexity and dynamics of global environment, the key to success is to encourage employee to be responsible for the success or failure of the enterprise. The process for securing that employee involvement and creating change is employee empowerment. The primary purpose of this study was to compare trainees' perceptions of learning in a web-based delivery and conventional-based delivery in a leading Midwestern Electronics Company. This study examined trainees' perceptions of learning environment differences and related demographic and attitudinal perception variables. Due to the nature of human beings, interactivity is a key element in the learning process.

This paper examines the current directions and future trends of using online sources and activities as a tool for learning. It concentrates on the developmental progress of the most powerful force shaping the evolution of this technology: the Internet. As we enter the 21st Century, online training is becoming the dominant educational technology. The Internet has succeeded in removing the time and space barriers to online multimedia instruction.
