Declining Innovation Performance Of The Hungarian Economy: Special Focus On Organizational Innovation The Example Of The European Community Innovation Survey (Cis)*, Makó Csaba, Illéssy Miklós, Csizmadia Péter
Journal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Innovation JEMI
In this paper the authors intend to examine the innovation performance of the Hungarian firms before and following the period of the global financial crisis and economic downturn. Contrary to the mainstream approach non-technological innovation, more precisely workplace innovation is put into the focus of the analysis. The authors argue that this is a neglected dimension of firms’ innovation activities which may become an important source of competitiveness at company level and thus it deserves more attention. The analysis of empirical data of the various waves of the European Community Innovation Survey (CIS) on non-technological innovation shows that the innovation …

Intellectual Capital Statement (Ics) As A Method Of Measurement And Management Of Knowledge Assets, Anna Ujwary-Gil

The article describes empirical verification of an interesting model – Intellectual Capital Statement (ICS). ICS is an example of a method which emphasizes the European contribution into the developing trend of intellectual capital (IC) measure and evaluation, with particular attention paid to the SME sector (a strong presence of Scandinavian countries and the USA is noticeable here). This case study below is segmented into four areas of interest: • commercial and non-commercial organizations as an object of research, • commercial and non-commercial organizations …

Developing The Next Generation Of Women And Minority Scientists For The Nuclear Energy Industry, Darrell Burrell, Andrea Todd, Aikyna Finch, Maurice Dawson
Maurice Dawson
The largest source of carbon dioxide emissions globally is the combustion of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in power plants, automobiles, industrial facilities and other sources. Generating electricity is the single largest source of carbon dioxide emissions, representing 41% of all emissions. Since 2007 the United States has been more actively considering nuclear power as an option for developing energy. Three decades after the Three Mile Island accident seemed to doom the nuclear power industry, the idea of a nuclear renaissance has been gaining public acceptance as a way to generate energy without greenhouse gas emissions and meet …
Rentention Of Key Talent And The Role Of Rewards, Dow Scott
Rentention Of Key Talent And The Role Of Rewards, Dow Scott
Dow Scott
Retention of key talent – those employees who are the strongest performers, have high potential, or are in critical jobs – is particularly important during economic recoveries when organizations compete more aggressively for market share and talent. Key talent disproportionally contributes to current and future organization performance since key employees often become organization leaders or employees with unique skills. In today’s world it is more challenging to hide your top talent because of social media applications like Linked In openly promote their capabilities and accomplishments. Furthermore, top talent can compare the “deal” or pay package they currently receive with that …
