Data is gathered from the National Transit Database (NTD) from 2015-2019, at the agency level. A k-means clustering approach is used to determine how these ratios segment agencies in the market. After agencies are classified into three groups, a discriminant analysis is done to affirm the distinctiveness of the solution. The results show that ESG investing has a positive and statistically significant impact on a company’s stock return. An increase in one ESG rating leads to an increase between 0.4% and 3.6% in the return of a company’s stock. Automotive scrappage programs aim to stimulate the economy, while benefiting the environment, by replacing older fuel inefficient cars with new fuel-efficient vehicles. Public policies, such as rebates, are discussed as indirect influencers of competition. Using the Resource-Advantage Theory as a framework, this indirect influence is empirically examined using three programs: one from the United States, Germany, and Canada. This paper found that the duration of the program, as well as the size of the rebate, matter to consumers and the overall success of the program. The United States had a large enough rebate but failed to last long enough to …

Assessing The Global Nonmarket Environment: The Political And Social Environment In The Global Business Environment, Hyuk Kim Dr.

Business, Accounting and Economics Faculty Scholarship

In order to formulate effective nonmarket strategies for firmspursuing global businesses, managers must adopt a comprehensive approach that can assess firms’cross-border political and social environment. This paper argues that a comprehensive approach to assess firms’ global nonmarket environment must combine all the three concepts (i.e. issues, stakeholders, networks [relationships]) that have been identified by the existing literature on nonmarket strategy, considering the concept of location (a particularly important concept in assessing the global nonmarket context) in addition to these three concepts. While developing a comprehensive approach to assess the global nonmarket environment of firms remains as a future research agenda, …
