The Walt Disney Company (Disney) announced preliminary plans for "Port Disney," a major theme park and destination resort complex which Disney was considering developing in Long Beach, California. As part of the planning effort for the project, Disney commissioned an analysis of the economic impacts (jobs and spending) and fiscal revenue impacts (revenues to public jurisdictions) of the project. The results summarized in this report are based on extensive analyses conducted by Kotin, Regan & Mouchly, Inc. (KRM), a Los Angeles-based economic consulting firm. An Empirical Comparison Of Direct Product Profit And Existing Measures Of Sku Productivity, Norm Borin, Paul Farris

Marketing

DPP (direct product profitability) has been heralded as one of the more important advances in supermarket shelf management, yet its acceptance by managers in the industry has been slow. Not only is DPP complex and expensive to calculate, but some question exists about whether decisions based on DPP are different from those based on traditional criteria such as gross margin and movement. A data base of nine dry-grocery categories is used here to compare DPP with other SKU indices. DPP is shown to lead to significantly different rankings in some categories, but not all. Minnesota Housing Reports

The Minnesota Housing Report is compiled on the basis of monthly housing reports furnished to the Minnesota Real Estate Research Center at St. Cloud State University. Funding to permit preparation of the Minnesota Housing Report is provided by the Educational Foundation of the Minnesota Association of REALTORS and St. Cloud State University.

The reports are supplied by fourteen cooperating local real estate boards representing 80 percent of Minnesota' s population. The boards represent various areas of the state and thus provide a picture of housing diversity between regions as well as housing trends within regions.

Education, Certification, And The Earnings Of Industrial Accountants, Kenneth Yale Rosenzweig, Lawrence Hadley

Accounting Faculty Publications

Utilizing a model of the relationship between skill accumulation and earnings known as human capital theory, we analyzed the incremental earnings associated with various educational and professional credential for a sample of members of the National Association of Accountants (NAA). Data were collected by means of a questionnaire survey of NAA members and were analyzed utilizing a multiple regression technique. Earnings is regressed on various education and certification variables. Employment characteristics and personal characteristics of the respondents are included as control variables.

Our analysis documents positive earnings increments for the bachelor’s and MBA degrees and the CPA certificate. For the …

Free Bank Failures In New York And Wisconsin: A Portfolio Analysis, Andrew J. Economopoulos

Business and Economics Faculty Publications

Rolnick and Weber found that a sharp decline in asset prices led to bank panics and, ultimately, bank failures during the free banking era. An examination of New York and Wisconsin free bank portfolios prior to a fall in asset prices indicates banks that weathered the turmoil held significantly different portfolios than closed banks. In general, solvent banks held more loans and specie, and issued more deposits and less bank notes than closed banks.
