Managing The Polarities Of Democracy: A Theoretical Framework For Positive Social Change, William J. Benet
Managing The Polarities Of Democracy: A Theoretical Framework For Positive Social Change, William J. Benet
Journal of Sustainable Social Change
People around the globe have embraced democracy to bring about positive social change to address our environmental, economic, and militaristic challenges. Yet, there is no agreement on a definition of democracy that can guide social change efforts. The Polarities of Democracy model is a unifying theory of democracy to guide healthy, sustainable, and just social change efforts. The Polarities of Democracy model consists of ten elements, organized as five polarity pairs: freedom & authority, justice & due process, diversity & equality, human-rights & communal-obligations, and participation & representation. In this model each element has positive aspects and negative aspects and …
Afterword: The Libertarian Middle Way, Randy E. Barnett
Afterword: The Libertarian Middle Way, Randy E. Barnett

But because there is no consensus about how much stuff each person should have or how exactly everyone should act, …
Democratic Participation, Engagement, And Freedom, Cillian Mcbride
Democratic Participation, Engagement, And Freedom, Cillian Mcbride
Cillian McBride

The ‘freedom-centred’ model defended here draws on the republican concept of freedom as non-domination, together with the political liberal notion of fair deliberative proceduralism, while the ethical model draws on Aristotelian, perfectionist, sources. It is argued that the ‘ethical’ model is overly concerned with the ‘moral renewal’ of modern social life, and is insensitive to problems of domination posed by its account of civic reciprocity and trust. …

Deleuze & Guattari And Minor Marxism, Eugene W. Holland
Eugene W Holland
This paper suggests a version of Marxism - a minor Marxism - derived from Deleuze & Guattari's political philosophy.
