Disciplinary identity is often at the core of our musical engagements, scholarly research and educational goals. Our schools, curricula, and pedagogy are repeatedly (and historically) shaped by how we (and others) view ourselves within the institution, the arts, and our culture. However, recent developments in communications, production, distribution, and consumption of music have drastically changed the way everyone engages with music. Have our educational objectives, goals, and identities evolved as well?
